Fun with my new Gelli plate and Viva Las VegaStamps!

I finally got myself a Gelli plate and had some fun with it!  I'm still a total novice when it comes to using the Gelli plate as this is my first project but I had fun and got messy none the less!  I started off by squirting 3 different colors of bright paint onto my Gelli plate and using my brayer to put the colors all over the plate
Then I laid the Gelli plate down onto my clean page and with my hand smoothed it down to get the paint to transfer.  As you can see by the circles I also used some stencils with black paint.
I also used more stencils with different colors of paint directly onto my Gelli plate and then transferred the plate onto the page again.  At one point I put white paint onto my Gelli plate and then lightly drew some squiggles and then transferred it onto the page, I thought that was kind of neat!
Here is my finished journal page:
I love the bright fun colors and loved playing with the Gelli plate! Here are some close ups

The Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps I used for this project were the hitchhiker stamp, the row of stars, the star pin, the not all who wander are lost, on the flip side and the chevrons.

I hope you enjoyed my journal page and until next time,

Mixed Media ATC's

Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed.

One thing I love about making ATC's is that you can use alot of the supplies that you already use if you scrapbook, art journal, do canvases, project life, etc...  I also find it's a great way to use up all the little paper scraps we seem to accumulate (I get a ton!!).

To make this first ATC I gathered up some odds and ends that I had lying around
as well as the treasured Line of Chevrons stamp and the Showgirl with baton stamp and made this ATC
I also found another overlay as well as some pom poms and miscellaneous items and added them as well, but that's what makes the ATC have more depth and interest.  Don't be afraid to layer on the items!

I also made this ATC
using the Lady tilting head stamp as well as a chipboard piece, rub ons, some pattered paper and a rhinestone.

And last but not least this fun ATC using the Lady dress flying up stamp
using a project life card glued onto cardstock, some rub ons, a transparency, rhinestones and pattered paper.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my ATC's and that it has inspired you to dig into your stash and layer on the supplies!

Still loving project life

Just popping in quick to post some layouts and to say I'm still loving the ease of preserving the memories this "project life" style.
 and
and I love this page documenting what I'm loving eating and drinking lately
How about you, are you still scrapping or doing the "project life" style or both?

All about me

Hi everyone, Glenda here with a pocket page layout all about me.  I thought it would be fun to do a layout on myself and I had alot of fun using 4 different Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps to make this page.  Forgive the glare on some of the pockets as it's a bugger trying to photograph these things!!! *(#&)$#&
Alot of the stamps are just the right size for either ATC's or for the pocket cards.
I love this Lady hair blowing stamp so I stamped her onto white cardstock and then cut her out
and I used black marker to make her darker as well as Sakura Gelly rolls to color in the little hearts on the camera.  Here are few more close ups

and here are the fabulous stamps I used:

The Lady hair blowing
the Distraught lady
and last but not least the Line of chevrons
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I used these stamps and until next time!

Coloring Animal Mandalas book

Hi there, today I would like to share a bit about this gorgeous book I received in the mail to review called Coloring Animal Mandalas by Wendy Piersall
From the Sanskrit word for "circle," mandalas have been used for meditation and healing for thousands of years.  The images inside are beautiful and intricate and I cannot wait to get out my colored pencils and color them!! There is one image inside that I particularly love and it's a Pegasus so I will definitely be starting with him.

I can see that this would be a very relaxing and calming activity.  By focusing on the coloring of the detailed images I can see how you would clear your mind of everything else and just relax and be in the moment.  I have loved coloring since I was a child and the intricacy of the images in this book appeals to the adult artist in me as well as the inner child. I can see that this book would make a great gift and would appeal to many ages. There are 31 images in this book that include birds, horses, frogs, sea images, cats, and much more.

If you love the look of the cover (the coloring of this bird is amazing!!) and want to see more, head on over to Wendy's animal mandala webpage here where you will find many gorgeous images ready for you to click on and print off! You can also order it and see more on the Amazon.ca website.

August recap

It's been a long time since I've caught up here. So much has happened last month that it's just crazy!! Here is a breakdown:

1.  I went on vacay to see my parents and as I was waiting at the Regina airport I saw Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench!!!!!! Pinch me!!! Of course I had to ask for his picture and it totally made my day as I LOVE those guys!!!
How freakin awesome is this???? I was super pumped!!!!!

2.  Had a blast while visiting my parents and sister and we went on a roadie to Jasper and did the jaw dropping Glacier Skywalk!! Check this out:
here is what it looks like hanging from the side of the mountain, crazy right??  The floor of the skywalk is totally clear so you can see everything below!!
I was very nervous about it all, especially since we had to take a bus up the mountain that I called "The Tippy" but once we got up there I stepped right out onto it and conquered my fears!! It was scary and amazing all at the same time!

3.  We moved! This move has me all shook up and I'm still trying to get unpacked and organized.  Here is my new art room and I'll post some more pics once I get it all unpacked and better organized.  I will say I love all the new space I have!!  Those two white shelves in the corner are amazing for holding my stamps and mists/inks.  I have the hubs to thank for these!!
4.  I forgot to post a pocket spread I did on our Huey Lewis and the News concert we went to in May (see I told you I was behind!!)

I know the pictures aren't the greatest as I haven't found the right room in the new house yet to take non glaring pictures. grrrr!!

5.  I was pubbed in two different magazines this fall!  The first one is RubberStampMadness in the Fall 2014 issue on pg. 51 with my "Waste of Time" ATC featuring of course Viva Las VegaStamps!!

and in the Fall 2014 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker on pg. 105!
and that's my life for last month in a nutshell! I'm in my art room today where I hope to make something as it's been so long! Have a fabulous day!

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Isn't that a freaking amazing prize!!!!!!

The DT was provided with some awesome StencilGirl stencils and here are the 3 that I chose:
the Marrakech stencil, the Journal texture #2 stencil and the Inky circles stencil.
(thank you StencilGirls!!):

Aren't they fabulous??? I knew right away that I wanted to use all 3 in an art journal page so I first started with painting one page
but then I got a vision in my head of how I wanted the page to be so I added paint to the other page as well to make a double spread
Next it was time to use the Marrakech stencil (this reminds me of the middle east or of some exotic locale!) and what I did was dab blue and burgandy paint onto the stencil with a foam brush
Once it dried I then "bumped" the stencil.  To do this you move the stencil slightly over until you see in this case some orange paint, and then I dabbed white paint over top with my foam brush.

What this does is gives you more depth, check it out!  Now it looks like there is shadowing, I love it!!

Here it is so far:
Now it was time for some stamps and washi tape.  I also used some sandpaper to distress the white paint so it looked more distressed.  I also used yellow paint with the Journal texture #2  stencil and lots of yummy inks from Imagine Crafts and the awesome "birds on a wire" stamp
and here is the finished journal page:
I had so much fun doing this!! Here are a few close ups (I am totally in love with the Delicata Golden Glitz ink from Tsukineko!!!!)
 more gold ink goodness
and yet more gold ink goodness, can't get enough!!
Here are all of the fabulous Viva Las VegaStamps! I used on this journal page:

chicken wire stamp
the spotty background stamp
the arrow stamp
birds on a wire large stamp
the You are here stamp
the large wasp stamp
the flock of geese stamp
the line of chevrons stamp
and last but not least the you had the power stamp
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my journal page! Here is a list of everyone in the blog hop for today in order:
