Once upon a piece of paper

Ok first of all, I can't believe I haven't blogged since June!!! Where has the time gone? Well it hasn't gone to making many crafty things BUT I did make a new art journal page using some fabulous papers from the book Once Upon a Piece of Paper by Andrea D'Aquino!
Is that not the cutest most colorful book ever?? This book not only shows you many different ways to use paper to collage but it also comes with 100 unique collage papers that are double sided.  There were so many examples of how to use paper in collage that I have never even thought of and I'm looking forward to trying them all.

I did use a couple papers from the book to create an art journal page:

Collage is something that everyone can do and there is no wrong or right way, just have fun!!  Thanks to the publisher for sending me this fun book for my review.

Sketchy Stories

I was given this book for my honest opinion and review, it's called Sketchy Stories by Kerby Rosanes
If you love sketches, doodles and whimsical drawings then you are in for a real treat! This little book is hardcover and the drawings are on cream colored pages.  Some are on one page and some take up two pages, but they are all amazing! The detail and imagination in these drawings is incredible.

A common theme in Kerby's sketches seems to be animals and a lot of the drawings have hidden images within them.  One of my favorites from the book is this one called "Coronation"
Isn't that amazing?? I keep looking at it and seeing new things every time! Kerby's style reminds me a little of "DoodleArt", remember those? I loved coloring them when I was a kid.

Kerby is from the Phillipines and specializes in black ink doodles and sketches.  He has over a million followers as well as other books.  You can see more about his book Here

Thank you to the publisher for sending me this whimsical book in return for my review!

Loving June!

The weather has finally been nice and I have now planted all of my garden beds!! Now the waiting begins, will I be able to grow stuff?? I will keep you posted! I did transplant the Coleus I grew from seed into a planter that is in the front yard, it was soooo easy to grow and is gorgeous!
and I found some gorgeous flowers at Rona that I put into pots as well (will have to  post pics of those another time, need to upload them still! lol!)
I did a few layouts and will post them before heading out into the backyard to tend to my garden!

Here is one I did on what I love about our house, this was super fun to do!
and the hubs and I saw Chilliwack in concert, soooo good!!! Love all their songs!!
and in this one I journalled about getting all my hair chopped off... would I do it again? Ask me when it grows past my shoulders again! haha It's been a journey for sure.
Have a fabulous Sunday everyone!

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Happy Saturday everyone! Today is the day that I picked a winner from the comments and I used a random number generator to keep it fair and square! Here is the lucky winner:

Danielle, congrats!! Email me your address so I can send those stamps out and you can hopefully have as much fun with them as I do!! Thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting!

This past week I took off using vacation time so that we could get our garden going.  It has done nothing but piss rain ALL WEEK LONG.  On the bright side, I'm not at work!! haha And another good thing was that the more than an inch of rain we got watered the new garden bed nicely! We are expecting yet another inch or so in rain this coming week! I better build an arc!!

Here are a few pics of the new garden bed.  Here is after John got it all filled and rototilled, ready to be planted!!

 Me planting the tomatoes!

 We're getting there!!
 All done!
The plants you see on the ground to the left have yet to be planted, that's today's job. In between the rain of course.  They are hollyhocks, lupines, 4 o'clocks and some other flowers.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Happy Victoria Day Canada!

I'm enjoying my day even though it's cold and crappy out! I was able to make a couple more ATC's (could I be on a roll??)

It's funny, I saw Madonna's performance at the Billboard awards doing a tribute to Prince and all I could think of was "meh"... for one I was confused as to why she was covering "nothing compares to U", I thought she would have done a Prince song? And her recent shananigans with her dressing like she's in her twenties still and flashing that poor girl on stage just brought to mind that song by Trooper called "3 dressed up as a 9" so I had to do the ATC. That was my inspiration behind this card. I do like Madonna but I'm pissed about all the reports that she has been leaving fans waiting for hours at her concerts, like be on time!! How hard should that be?? I've been to many concerts and they have been big names like Alice Cooper, John Mellancamp, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, Judas Pries, etc.. and they have ALL been on time!!  Hmm... could I be a teller of unpopular truths???? haha

Ok I'm done with my rant. Here is a pic of my vegetables and plants getting hardened off, the big plant is this Saturday!!
More pics to come! Have a great day!

ATC Trio!!

Yes, that's right, I made an ATC trio!! I know, shut the front door!! It's been so long and I have been so out of the ATC scene that I made myself make a trio today and man it felt good!! I used the same color combo and some fabulous women stamps by Viva Las VegaStamps and bam! Here you have it:

Here is "never have to say sorry"
and here is "Sweet woman" (I know, I know, this will piss some people off.. but such is life...)
and last but not least "the same mistake"
Tell me what your fave ATC is and I'll be doing a draw to give away two stamps that I had duplicates for (never used and from the fabulous Viva Las VegaStamps!):
I will pick a random name from those who comment on May 28th!

Here is a project life layout I did also, look at me catching up!!

I hope to be planting my first garden during the May long weekend so I will post some pics! Have a great week everyone!

It's May!

I can't believe it's May 1st today! The sun is shining and I planted some strawberry plants outside! This year is my first year that I am attempting a garden. I started a bunch of seeds last month and so far have hollyhocks, zinnias, tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, watermelons, 4 o'clocks, lupines, cauliflower, green onions, strawberries, lavender, portulcacas, and a few more I can't remember right now!  Here are some pics of my fledgling garden:

Check out the sunflowers!
 And some tomatoes and sunflowers:
The Coleus was sooo easy to grow from seed!!
 Pepper fledglings!
ps. I HATED these Jiffy pots, they dried out too fast, like daily, and I ended up putting them into the black plastic transplant pots.
I have kept a journal so I know what does well and how long it took seeds to sprout!
And in scrappy news here are a few project life layouts I have done:

There just isn't enough time!! I wanted to detail and wash my car this weekend but never got to it.  I did go the butcher's and buy some filets and we barbequed last night and they were delish!!!!  Tomorrow is back to the grind for a full week, heavy sigh.... oh the things I could if I didn't have to work but still got paid!!

Finally some ATC's....

Hi, anyone who reads this blog knows how sporadic it is... it's funny because it seems like a lot of people have lost their mojo. I remember the days of numerous scrap magazines (are there any even in print anymore???), scrap celebs, the big scrap conventions where there would be a shitload of new products that we all felt compelled to buy.. and now I look at my art room and think holy shit woman, what the hell are you going to do with all this stuff???  How about you, has your mojo taken a nosedive? Do you still create the same volume?

Granted I still scrap, but in the project life format, so a lot of the embellishments, stickers, etc.. I can still use but I also have a bunch of other stuff that I can't.  I put some in the garage sale last summer and now have a bunch of scrap magazines and books that will be going to the Sally Ann this week. It feels good to declutter.

I still do art journaling and ATC's but not on the level I was at for sure.  Since I'm not on any DT's I don't feel pressured to make stuff so I mainly don't! haha BUT... this week I did do 3 ATC's (hold on to your hats I know!!)

It did feel good but I also felt quite rusty!! haha Here are some more project life layouts as well.  This one is just some random pics:
This one is from the Headpins & Holly Woods/Toronto concert we went to:
 February was lovely!
And last but not least this one was from the Trooper concert we went to.
Well, I'm going to go back to my art table and try to do an art journal page now, wish me luck!

Long time no see!!

Yes I'm still alive and I totally suck at blogging!! I can't believe it's been over 2 months... I really don't have much to report other than I will be starting a garden this year, yay!!! Also I ordered an essential oil diffuser and cannot wait to get it!!!! Does anyone have a diffuser and if so thoughts? I'll post a pic of mine when it comes which should be this week!

I have been busy keeping up with my project life and when I was in Calgary last month I was at Winners and they had a bunch of kits on for $19 (I know right???) so I splurged and bought these 4:
I went to IKEA while I was there as I also needed more storage bins to hold all my cards that I have amassed, it's crazy!! haha Here are the containers I use:
 and my work table:
I have told myself I am not allowed to buy any more cards but we'll see how that goes! haha Since I have a shitload of cards it's only right that I should be actually  using them right?? Here are the layouts I've done:

I can honestly say I'm still loving this way of scrapping.  It is fun, easy, quick and you can spend as little or as much time as you want doing it.

I also actually did a couple journal pages too!

I'm hoping to do some ATC's soon as it's been so long!!

I had a couple pubs which was exciting! I had 2 ATC's in the "Stamping All Year Long" book published by RubberStampMadness on Pg. 35 & 59
as well as an ATC on pg. 51 in the Spring 2016 RubberStampMadness
Well that's about it, I think it's time for me to head outside and enjoy some of this fabulous sunshine we are having at this time of year! Have a great week everyone!
