Christmas in March!

haha, ok not really, it's just that I finished scrapping (project life'ing) my Christmas pics! Here are 4 spreads I did for Christmas:

Most of these papers were by Kaiser Craft but you know what I did? I did something crazy! I decided I don't care if I have all of my papers/cards arranged by manufacturer anymore. Why? There are hardly any magazines around that pub now so who really cares if I keep track of who made this stuff.

On Pinterest I came across a pin (sorry can't remember where) of someone who arranged their project life cards by color, theme, etc.. so that's what I did! It has made things a WHOLE lot easier and I love it.  I have sections for color, seasons/holidays, travel, gold/silver, kraft, months, celebrations, etc. and now instead of madly rifling through a zillion cards (because like when I scrapped I am now collecting and hoarding cards...) I can find what I want when I want it.  Love it.

How about you? How do you arrange your project life stuff? Are you doing a project life style or still standar scrapping?

Journaling SAMCRO

One of the things I'm going to try to be better at is journaling the little things that I want to be able to look back on and remember.  One of my favorite shows was the "Sons of Anarchy", LOVED IT!!!!  My husband and I watched it faithfully, all 7 seasons, and I wanted to do a page on how much we loved it. Pay a little homage to Jax if you will. :)

Here is my journal spread and then I will show you how it all came together using Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps:
I started out with two pages that I had cleaned my Gelli plate on (I love doing that) after making other pages as well as cleaning stamps on, a great way to use up the extra ink!
Then I had an awesome image of Jax that I had clipped from a magazine and I placed him onto the one page.
Then I saw the left side needed a little something so I stamped the film strip stamp onto it.
Then I painted inside of the film strip so it would tie in with the color on the other page, making it more cohesive.
And once more here is the finished spread
and some close ups
I love that glob of paint, texture!!!
The stamps I used to make this project are the film strip, bubble wrap texture, tire tread, danger skeleton, line of chevrons, row of stars, censored, one way, arrow, writing arrow, chevronson the flip side, not all who wander are lost, french writing background and last but not least the spotty background! Whew, I don't think I missed any but I sure had fun using all of these stamps!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my project.

Happy Sunday!

Sunday is definitely my Funday.  I love playing in my art room!! Here is my latest journal spread made for the Kreative Koncepts Journey Journey (love playing around with this group).  Here is how my page started out after I had cleaned leftover paint and a drippy stencil on it from a previous project (this is awesome to do because you don't waste any paint or ink and it also gives your next project a base!)
Then I used a lot more paint, mists and white spray paint to get to this next stage (I love these colors as they remind me of a peacock!)
Then I used black spray paint and a stencil
and then I added stamping, lettering and here is my finished spread.
and of course the close up
If you are looking to expand your journaling, or just to get some new ideas and have fun playing along check out the Kreative Koncepts blog!

Before I go here are a couple project life pages I did as well

I'm getting a little addicted to these pocket cards!!! Have a great Sunday!!

Love is in the air!

With Valentine's Day coming up I thought it only appropriate to make some ATC's showcasing love using Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps, because I'm sweet like that, and who doesn't love love??

This first ATC I used a lot of texture and layers like molding paste, acrylic embellishments, paper, stickers, mist and Goosebumps.  I also used the man and woman symbol stamp and the hearts stamp.
and here is a close up of the yummy textures and layers:
This next ATC I used the birds on a wire stamp and the couple kissing stamp, along with a rub on, patterned paper and some acrylic embellishments.
and last but not least, a romantic ATC featuring the young couple kissing stamp along with patterned paper, clear printed tape and some stickers:
Happy Valentine's Day everyone and I hope you enjoyed my projects.

Catching up on my project life

Hi there, just putzing around in my art room and popped in to share a few project life pages I have done.  I am almost on November! lol!

These are kind of a bugger to photograph but I will say I love this way of documenting my life.  I can't see myself going back to the regular 12 x 12 way of scrapping but never say never!!  When I was at Winners the other day I found the W R Memory Keepers 3 x 4 paper punch without the rounded corners for $16.99.  I know I had purchased this before but couldn't get the darn thing to work, so I took it back and gave up on it.  While since then I have read a lot of good reviews on it (minus the little dent it apparently leaves?) but thought for $16.99 it was worth another try.  Hey, if it doesn't work I'll take it back again! haha I thought this might help me get motivated to go through all my 12 x 12 papers and make my own cards.

How about you, do you have the punch and what are your thoughts on it?  Once I try it (again) I will come back and let you know how I made out!

Brilliant Banksy

I just love Banksy street art so it was a no brainer that when the Viva Las VegaStamps! Banksy stamps were released I just had to have them!!  Banksy is an English graffiti artist,  political activist, film director, and painter.  His street art usually contains dark humour and graffiti and is usually done using a stenciling technique. Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces.   I find that these stamps are perfect for art journaling and ATC's and it's fun to try to create a background that showcases the images.

I made 3 ATC's using the Banksy stamps, here is the first one

using Banksy shopping Jesus on cross, crime scene tape, french writing background and the bubblewrap texture stamp.

Here is the next ATC

and I tried to make a more grungy street style background, almost like concrete.  I used the Banksy swinging girl, one way small, radioactive and biohazard.

Last but not least I had a lot of fun with this one
I used eat the rich, Banksy winged mohawk guy, apocalypse and pin through paper.

I hope you enjoyed my trio of Banksy ATC's and thanks for stopping by!

New Journal Journey page

I was happy to be able to play along again with the 3rd part of the Journal Journey and the 3rd part was to take the resist techniques that we have been learning and playing along with and to make an art journal page.

One of the techniques was to use white paint and dab it onto a stencil, which I did here
Then when it dried I used Patina Glimmermist and sprayed it all over the journal page leaving it looking like this:
Now you can see how the buildings show through in a soft way.  Here is my finished art journal page
I had a lot of fun doing this and can't wait for the next tutorial!

I miss my boys

Last year was a very dificult year as we had to say goodbye to both of our "boys", Sam was 17 and Skyler was 16 1/2.  They had good long lives but for anyone who loses their heart to a pet (family member really!) it is never long enough and I miss them dearly.

One thing I love about art journaling is that I can chronicle or put down on paper what I'm feeling so for this art journal spread I dedicated it to our boys.  Here is my journal spread and then I will show you how I made it!
I started out with two pages that I had cleaned my Gelli plate off of as well as different Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps stamps (looks nothing like the journal spread above right??) and I appologize for the blurry pic but I took it at night and didn't realize it was so blurry...
Then I took a stencil and used blue paint to create the design over the two pages and then poured some orange paint in a line and used a trowel to spread it
leaving it now looking like this
I sat there looking at it and didn't care for the in your face colors... so I took the same stencil and used cream colored paint and "bumped" the stencil, leaving it now looking like this (amazing how different it now looks right?)
much better! I now added some turquoise and pink paint and words as well as a bunch of stamps (can you spot them all?) and then glued a picture of my cherished boys on as well.
Once again here is the finished journal spread
I used the line of chevrons stamp, the You are here stamp, Waybill/invoice background, the design open circles, solid star in circle, smear/smudge, writing triangles, tape, double coffee rings and last but not least the bubble wrap texture!

Here are some close ups of the different stamps

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my project!
