Artist Trading Cards

or ATC's....rock! I attended an ATC session at my local art museum on Sunday. It was free of charge (how cool is that??), they provided some basic materials, had coffee & juice and a plate of squares and veggie tray (they even fed me!!) and introduced us to the magical world of ATC's! They explained how ATC's originated and told us that the only rule in making ATC's is that the size be 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 so that they fit into those baseball card collecting sleeves. Other than that, the sky is the limit!! So, there we sat, 31 people eager to create. We ranged in age from teenagers to seniors, which was really neat. We will meet again next Saturday to have a full fledged trading session, woohoo!! So my goal is now to pump out 31 cards so I can try to trade with everyone there. I guess I'm assuming though that they will want to trade with me?? Oh well, better to be safe than sorry I say! So, without further ado, here are a few of the cards I created and are some of my faves:

So, I will keep adding as I pump them out. Let me tell you, if you have never had the joy of making an ATC, I highly recommend it! Before this year I never even knew what one was and even when someone told me I was like "huh, why would someone want to do that??" but now I'm hooked! They are fun because they are so miniature and you can be creative and satisfy your creative urge in a shorter amount of time. So come on, cut up a piece of cardboard or cardstock in the 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 size and see what you can do!

Word up!

I don't think I'll ever get tired of saying that! hee hee Ok, the word this time was "still" and I knew exactly how I was going to use it as my daughter thinks that just because she's the "big 13" now she's not little anymore, doesn't need me and knows EVERYTHING! So, in this layout I used ghost letters for the "little" because even though I know she's not so little anymore, she really will always be my "little girl".

Artist Trading Cards

I am sooooo hooked on doing these now it's not even funny! I bought the new 7 Gypsies ATC holder (it's sooo cute!!)
and now I've started the fun job of filling it up! What I love about these little cards is that they are the perfect size for when you don't have alot of time but you want to create something. You can whip one off in no time as they are only
2 1/2 x 3 1/2. I like to think of them as super tiny scrapbook pages! haha Anyhoo, here are a few that I did so far:

I haven't done anything like this before but I know as SIStv I keep seeing these daily cards, and I just love them! That might be something I might start as well as these are just too cute! When I get my ATC holder more filled up I'll take a pic and post as it's starting to look pretty cool. I love having stuff peeking out over the tops and spilling out over the sides of the cards as it looks really neat when it's all on the holder.

Word up!

hee hee, love saying that!! And I love seeing what the new word will be from the OLW challenge blog. The word this time was step or steps and the first thing that came to mind for me was baby steps, because I was thinking about the changes I wanted to make for my New Year. So I morphed the word into a quote which was perfect for my New Year's resolutions and here it is:

So now you all know my dirty little secrets! ha ha I don't know if you noticed (like anyone really reads this right?? ha ha) but I changed the name of my blog. It used to be "unicorns dare to dream" but I wanted something to go with the cool picture I took of the rainbow (it's the view from my back deck). So, if anyone does read this let me know which you prefer, just out of curiousity. It doesn't feel like I've stumbled upon the perfect name yet. I think when I do I'll know it.
