It's a whole new world

A world I never knew existed until someone left a comment on one of my ATC's, the unicorn one to be exact, inviting me to participate in a unicorn/pegasus ATC swap on Swap-bot! I have never even heard of this place before today, have you?? So I moseyed on over and created an account and can officially swap! woohoo!! How exciting is this? Very! I'll keep you posted on any swaps I may sign up for but if you are into ATC's run, don't walk, over there and check this site out! There are sooo many swaps it's amazing. A swap for everything too, not just ATC's! I saw a mermaid swap but I haven't ordered my mermaid stamps yet, damn. Next time.

I almost forgot to post my layout for the Scrapping the Music Challenge, love that site!! They are so inspiring and I always have alot of fun playing with them.

Before I go here is my The Design Experiment challenge layout, which was to conduct an interview on someone so I picked my best friend Gay. I used the Magistical Memories Grama's Attic August Kit to make this and everything was from the kit except for the arrow stamp and paint.

I have to get off the puter and get in the shower so I can get my groceries today! Before I go here's a little Friday John Rzeznik eye candy

Bling it on

My DD wanted her belly button pierced for her birthday and I had said when she was
14 she could get it done. So we went to the mall and she picked out a gorgeous pink rhinestone and got it done! I used the Magistical Memories Grama's Attic August kit to scrap this. I added some black and inking to give the soft girly papers some edge. Everything was from the kit except for the hand & alpha stamps and black paint.

I sure wish they would have had belly button piercings when I was younger but nooooo. We were blessed with mullets, rib high jeans, leggings, flashdance shirts, neon colors, suspenders...I'll stop now as you get the picture. Yes my friends, if you guessed the 80's you are right!! Here's a little trip down memory lane for anyone else who rocked the 80's like I did!!

Ahhh, those were the days. The days when I partied like it was 1999! haha

Tag I'm it!

My funny scrappy online friend Bucket tagged me and I always love playing along with stuff like this, cause I'm just like that. So here we go:

7 strange things about myself:

1. I have a fear of heights, flying, bridges (this one is insane because I have to drive over one to get to and from work. EVERYDAY. I have this insane fear that it's going to collapse one day and I've even told the hubs. I have lots more fears too but I'll stop here so no one suggests therapy.

2. I like to eat my KFC chicken with bites of the coleslaw. I have to or I can't eat the chicken. End of story.

3. I am somewhat of a hypochondriac in that if I have something, even something so little like the rash I currently have on the back of my neck, I will google it and become convinced it's something awful and fatal. I used to pour through my medical books (they should not allow them to be sold to people like me! haha) and check out the symptoms. But now I just google them.

4. I say wierd things and have odd sayings, like "chaka kha", "pump the jam", "jam pumper", "oy", "help me Rhonda", "there's a malfunction at the junction", "dammit Janet", etc..

5. I am a bit of a hermit. I have to be coaxed to go out because I love being at home.

6. I pick at my cuticles and it's gross. The hubs always says "how are your cuticles" when he sees me picking away at them and I always say either "fine" or "not good". haha

7. I worry. ALOT. I worry about anything and everything and think every 2nd person is either a pedophile, rapist or serial killer. After what's on the news every night though can you blame me??

Ok, I had to come back and add an 8th. How could I have possibly forgotten to mention my obsession with the Goo Goo Dolls, John Rzeznik in particular!!! yummy. Someone bring him to me!! haha I have had a mixed CD of their songs playing in my car for over 3 months now. Love. Him. Sexy. sigh.

Um, yeah, just a little obsessed.

6 Random facts about me:

1. I love reading Hollywood gossip mags!

2. I love having crisp, clean sheets!

3. I drive a standard and like to zip around with The Goo Goo Dolls playing and I sing at the top of my lungs.

4. I love purses and baubles.

5. I prefer flat shoes to high heels. I have a great collection of funky runners.

6. I have 2 tattoos, a unicorn on my right ankle and a tribal rose on my left shoulder. I have thought about getting another one but haven't decided yet.

So there. Now you know probably more than you ever wanted to know about me! haha So, now I have to tag 6 peeps eh?
Ok, I'll tag:

Hey, did anyone else eat the rotten tainted meat that was recalled from Maple Leaf?? Apparantly it's not just Maple Leaf now, it's like 9 pages of meats from alot of different companies! Check out the link to see if you are a ticking time bomb like me! The incubation period is like 2-90 days! Can you believe it? I ate some of the Schneider's shaved deli ham and now just have to hope I'll be ok. I guess if I'm still alive on November 20th it should be safe to say I will be able to buy green bananas eh? haha

It's outa control!

My ATC addiction that is! haha Oh well, I'm just going to totally go with it! I am starting a new series of ATC's that will go from A to Z which gives me the chance to use the awesome Technique Tuesday stamps that I won in a contest. Here are the first 3 and I will keep posting as I make them:

Then I did this one just for fun

I love thinking up ideas on what I will use for each letter of the alphabet! I also have to get started on my Dream Girls challenge layout, make sure you check the site on September 1st because it will be a good one!

Addicted to ATC's

I stayed up late last night, drinking beer and making these ATC's

aaahh, love making these little pieces of art. The possibilities are just endless. I really need to get back to making some layouts though as I have a ton of pics needing to be scrapped! I'm looking forward to Sunday as the new Scrapping the Music challenge and The Design Experiment should be up. Hopefully that will motivate me cause right now I just want to make more ATC's!!

I survived....

my first week back at work! Talk about a hellish week. The phone never stopped ringing. People never stopped coming to the counter. On Fridays we are half staff so the day was especially hellish. I couldn't wait to get home, get into my polar fleece jammmies (it rained like hell today and was only like 10 above!!) and crack a beer. We had smokies for supper and watched

All I can say is holy crap!!! I really enjoyed the movie despite the gory scenes because I found it quite terrifying as well as horrific. John didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did but I was mesmerized until the very end. I know it's not for everyone but if you've seen it let me know what you think!

I got my cartoon ATC cards from the cartoon swap today!! yay!! I was just amazed once again at the creativity that goes into ATC cards and how unqiue they all were. I love seeing a little bit of everyone in their cards. Here is my lovely set

My card is the bottom row 2nd from the last, Josie and the Pussycats! I used to love that show when I was little and even wanted to be a pussycat. There was something about the tails and ears, totally. I wanted to be Melody, the blonde on the drums. What an awesome set eh?

I finished up my owl ATC's last night for the owl swap and they went postal this aft. Here is a sneak peek

I haven't had much me time this week as work has kicked my ass, that and the boy moved back in (ever have one leave the nest only to return?) which means coming and going at odd hours (hey, he's almost 19, feel my pain??) and I need at least 7 hours sleep a night. Doesn't help when some girl calls the house at 4:10 THIS MORNING for him!!! Can you believe it?? I almost blew a gasket! Who the hell calls someone at 4:10 in the morning??? Thank God it's Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow, that's all I can say.

On a happier note to calm myself before I go off on a tangent, here are the beautiful roses and card John got me for our 20th anniversary, what a guy. They are just gorgeous

Well, for now the house is quiet and I'm going to see if I can make something!

Pick me, pick me!!

Love this kit! It's called Urban Prep and this is the sneak peek from Scrap in Style a place I hang out at. Alot. Okay, maybe more than alot. Like all the time.

I love the papers, the Thickers (it's all about the Thickers baby!) and the other letters but when I saw that dotted stamp (I spy with my little eye, looks like a Fontwerks stamp??) I almost had a seizure! Love that stamp! And I know I need more papers like I need a 3rd eye but come on! Who can resist yummy papers??? No one. This kit is available For PreOrder Until 8.24, and if you spend $50 you get a $10 Gift Card! That is what I would call totally Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious~!!!

On another note, it was the hubs and I's 20th wedding anniversary today! He came home from working hard all day after pouring concrete with 2 dozen gorgeous roses, a totally sweet and mushy card which he knows I love, and a bottle of champagne! How sweet is that! He even stood at the LB and waited for the champagne to chill in the little chiller machine thingy, even though I know he must have been so tired. So we sat on the deck and drank that magnum and just chilled. It was a good night. We toasted to another 20 years! Life is good.

I'm panicking a little about my owl ATC cards, haven't started them but have all the cards painted and ready to start. The deadline is Sept. 15 (FIRM) but I have to mail to the states so I really have to get my ass in gear!!

Ok, peace out!

Like I said before I played around last night and made some ATC's. I've been reading 2 different books on ATC's which show you how to do alot of different techniques. I've been wanting to branch out for a while so my first technique I tried was using liquid watercolors and then I also tried embossing (which is soooo cool!!)

These are the supplies I needed in order to make my watercolor cards

I have been wanting to use my watercolor papers for some time now and that liquid watercolor technique. I searched high and low though to find liquid watercolor and do you think I could find it? I finally found it at Michael's in the kids seasonal area for under $5.00 a pack. For some bizarre reason they don't carry it regularly in the art or the crafts section. So now I have to hoard this stuff like gold! haha

First I cut out my ATC's from the watercolor paper and laid them onto a piece of
12 x 12 white cardstock. I'm hoping that the white cardstock will look really cool after doing a bunch of ATC's on it and then I can cut it up and use it for neat backgrounds as well.

I put drops of the liquid watercolor onto the ATC cards and then took a wet brush and swished it all around.

I took my handy dandy new heat tool that I bought at Michael's with my 40% off coupon

and dried the cards. When they were dry I tried a couple different techniques. I stamped with this gorgeous angel stamp I bought while on holidays and then used my new Stargazers pearlescent & metallic colors paint palette (supposed to be just like the twinkling H2o's) and also used a gold leafing pen to outline the edges

This picture shows off the pearlescent colors alot better

Then I also used embossing powder (my first time and it was soooo fun!!)

Of course in real life the colors are more purple rather than blue, damn scanner! So there you have it kids. There are so many more techniques to try that I can hardly wait! But tonight I have to get crackin on my owl ATC swap cards, no more dickin around on that. Before I go, here is my layout for the new scrapjacked

Gotta run!

This layout seems perfect for the first day back at work. This is for the new Gutter Girlz challenge and I have always wanted to document my cursing. I have some bad ones let me tell you! So if you are easily offended don't click on the layout to read them! haha

Finally got to use that Rusty Pickle paper (say that 5 times really fast!) which was perfect for this.

Last night played with my new heat tool (woohoo, how fun is that little guy eh??) and did some embossing and used liquid watercolors to make some ATC's. I have to go and sit in my cubicle now so I'll try to post some pics later tonight. Wish me luck on my first day back to work. I can only imagine what my desk must look like, piled with phone messages and stickies.

My last day...

before I have to go back to work. I can't believe I have been off work for 3 glorious weeks!! I have enjoyed every minute of it and feel like I have had a nice break. Tomorrow morning is going to be a major shock to my system though!! I have been staying up until 1:30 in the morning alot of nights working on my challenges and just playing in my art room. John and I ususally watch tv or a movie together and then when he goes to bed I go play! haha

Last night we barbequed steak and had some drinks on the deck. After having that awesome homemade lemonade in the park we went out yesterday to Walmart and bought a juicer. It's just one of those plug in ones for under $15.00 and we made our own homemade lemonade with a twist, he added some fresh orange as well (ok, and a little vodka!) haha

I did The Art is Found challenge but am not really sure about it. I think I should have used pink paint behind the letters instead of green. It seems a little pale and washed out. Don't you hate when you screw a layout up?? Oh well, there are no mistakes in art, isn't that what they say? And who are they?? haha

I also did the One Little Word challenge and loved how this one turned out. It came at a good time because the hubs and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this week on the 20th!! woohoo!!

Last but not least I did The Story Matters challenge during one of my many 1:30 am benders

I signed up for an owl ATC swap which will give me a chance to use my new owl stamps, yay!! I can't tell you how worried I am to have to sit back in my cubicle tomorrow, starting at 8:00 am. uuuggghhh.

And we have a winner kids!

The next time I do this I may have to do the number generator that I've seen (I didn't expect the awesome response, you guys are great!!). So, while having my morning coffee I wrote out everyone's name on a slip of paper

and put them in the magic little red bucket. I swished them all around and picked out the first one I touched which is

come on down! You are the lucky RAK winner! woohoo!! Please email me your addy so I can pop that baby into the mail on Monday! Thanks for everyone who visited here and gave me your input on the bags, super fun!

Hey, the new Dream Girls Challenge is up and it is super fun and whimsical! Go check it out and play along, I think you'll love it! Here is my take on the challenge

I thought that show was alot of fun and thought having that power would be amazing!! I know, it's the kid in me! haha Today the hubs took the day off and we had alot of fun together. We went out for lunch and had chinese food and then went to Crescent Park where they had different bands playing in the park, all for free! We drank homemade lemonade (it was sooo refreshing and yummy!!)

and watched and listened to some of the bands play.

Saw some super cute ducks and

of course had to do some pics of us!

It runs again tomorrow and we might go hang out again. This time I'll put sunscreen on my shoulders and not wear black capris! What kind of a moron wears black capris in the blazing sun??? Me.

Sneak peeks

I finished up my cards from the 2 swaps I'm in and am happy with how they turned out. I just loved playing with the color purple for the Purple Rain ATC:

Talk about bringing back high school memories! I used to just love that movie and the soundtrack, still do! I knew the words to just about every single song on that album.

The next swap was super fun, it was the Rock of Love swap and you had to pick a quote. My quote was "she beat my penis to a pulp and it was, you know, it was a dry beating".

Isn't that freaking hysterical??? haha I found myself getting sucked into this show when my daughter watched it. I cannot believe the lengths some of those women go to, skank alert!! ha ha

So now I'm all caught up on my swaps and even found myself checking the boards to see if there were any new ones posted! I know! Ok, I took a couple pics of my paper situation and am going to bare my shame for the world to see. Let me know if

a) I'm not so bad, you have around the same
b) It could be alot worse, you have more or know those with more
c) I need to cut back, I'm borderline intervention
d) I'm hideous, look away, I need a full blown intervention

Ok, here you go, this is my main paper supply:

and this pile of damn slabs that I got at Michael's and have cursed myself for over and over. Never buy a slab!!

I bought the damn slabs when I first started scrapping and there they still sit, taunting me. I hate to get rid of them "just in case" I ever need them. I have learned that I will never buy a slab again. EVER.

Well, there you have it. Oh, and here is the little carry on suitcase I brought back from Calgary loaded with scrappy goodness:

I have everything put away and organized and now just need to play! This is my last week of holidays and then it's back to my cubicle. So I'm trying to enjoy each day to the fullest. I have been a bad wife in that I haven't done much around the house other than some laundry and cooking supper. The hubs is so great though that he says "no you haven't, you deserve to enjoy your holidays". aaawwww!! He's so generous and I love him so much for it!
