Guest Gutter Girl!

Guess who is guesting at Gutter Girlz ?? Me!! Woohoo!! I was happy to be asked and we did a challenge that was given to us by the girls over at Category Stories and the category was "icky" so I made an ick list:

I used the Magistical Memories nesting skulls and no, that hair clogged drain isn't from my house! haha I got all of the images off the net. Doesn't that dog poop one just kill you? It makes me laugh everytime I look at it!

Now for some mini madness, as soon as I saw the adorable birds on this Magistical Memories chipboard mini album from the September Kit I just knew I wanted to do a mini on the hubs and I. Everything was from the kit except for the pink chipboard heart, pink crown, little letter stickers and paint.

It felt good to make a mini again as it's been a while. I think that's because I've been busy doing the challenge layouts and ATC's! I've been a Swap-bottin fool! Here are some I did for the Pink Swap in honor of breast cancer awareness month

I just love looking at all that pink goodness! I also did these 2 just because

and then made some of these too

I painted the background with my pearlescent watercolor paints. I just love that image.

So, um, yeah, that's why I've been a little busy. I got my first swap package in the mail today for the "Explicit Words" swap and loved the words. It was exciting to get my first ones and I'm expecting lots more.

On the weekend we watched What Happens in Vegas and was it ever funny!! I loved it!

Of course Ashton isn't hard on the eyes and they also made a great couple. Love the popcorn scene too!!

Desperate Housewives!!! Hello!!! Awesome! I love how they have fast forwarded 5 years into the future and can't wait until next Sunday!!! This is actually the only show I watch faithfully. I don't watch much tv at all, other than movies on the weekend with the family, which really consists of just John and I right now as the kids are never home (um, yeah, remember your teen years??).

I've got alot to babble on about today, today is the new
Dream Girls Challenge so make sure you pop over there later today and check it out! This is my take on the challenge

I took that picture of myself when I flew to Calgary in February so it was perfect for this layout on how I have to pray each time I fly. I'm sure I'm not alone either, I bet most people do. I used the Magistical Memories chipboard Swirling Good Time for this, their new releases are so awesome!!!

Also, on the weekend John went to an auto auction because he's been looking around at trucks since his work truck is getting old and he wants something that can handle heavy loads like his trailer and concrete forms...so, he comes home and he's coming in the door and he says "I got you something" and I'm thinking, oh, he bought a truck and he's giving me the gift card (at this one place if you bought a vehicle they gave you a gift card to a store) so I go to reach it and he's handing me KEYS!!! Yep. Keys to a vehicle!! He came home with a car for moi!! How lucky am I?? I think he deserves the husband of the year award!! Here's the new car, she's a 96 Ford Explorer 4 x 4 with air!! Yes, I finally have air!!! Of course winter is coming upon us but hey, I'll have it next year!! Here's me with the new car

and here's the car, which I have to come up with a name for.

My last car was named "Sassy", because, well, she was Sassy! Now I'm wracking my brain for a name for this one. I think this has to be the longest post in my bloggin history!!

Word up!

yo yo yo, word up! I had fun playing along with the One Little Word challenge again. Those ladies are uber talented and creative and I just love creating a layout using a word, and seeing how differently everyone interprets that word. This is my take

Change and I don't always get along (I sometimes hate when things change!) but regardless of that, I am always there to document it.

I got my September Kit from Magistical Memories and love the whimsy in it! That's one thing I love about kits, is that I wouldn't necessarily always pick certain papers or embellies, but when given to me and I start playing and making stuff, I'm often surprised at how much I love it! Sometimes I tend to gravitate towards certain things but going outside of your comfort zone is good! I love the whimsical feel of this paper and had fun adding buttons and journaling for a fun feel:

I'm working on a super fun mini that came with the kit and will post soon!

Today John and I went out for lunch at a chinese food buffet and it was so gross. The restaurant used to be really good but it changed hands, what a disappointment. We used to go for the awesome dry garlic ribs, crab rangoons and skinny noodles but what we got today were fatty, gnarly ribs (looked like something that had been swept up from a kill floor and made use of), pale tasteless noodles and the crab rangoons were barely stuffed, they were mostly batter. Ugh. Then when we left and got home my stomache started churning. Yeah. Nice eh? We won't be going back that's for sure.

Cleaned my bathrooms and am going to make a nice chicken supper and vegie pack for supper. I can't believe it's Sunday again already, where does the weekend go? Oh, I think the premire of Desperate Housewives is on tonight!!!! I can hardly wait!! I missed those crazy girls!

Oh what a day!

Today it was good to be me (and does it ever feel good to say that!) I had a day off so I poured my go cup full of coffee and hit the highway to do some out of town shopping!

I had the Goo Goo Dolls playing and I was singing away, it was a beautiful fall day, and here I was on my own! How much better could it be right? Lots! Today was the last day for the Michaels 40% coupon PLUS they had all rubber stamps on for 40% off!! Holy shit eh?? I couldn't miss that sale! Here is the first place I went when I got to Michaels

Talk about a wall of rubber eh? I almost had a seizure just looking at all of the lovely rubber stamps. The possibilities were endless!! But I knew I could only bring so many of these lovelies home with me and this is what came home with me

I know, I'm so spoiled!!! I got a package of these cool clear Hambly border stickers thinking they would be awesome for when I do my clear acrylic album. You know, the one I keep talking about but never actually doing?? Yeah, that one. They had some Martha stuff too that they were clearing out (big surprise, not my style) but I did grab a package of felt pendants that were kind of neat. Most of her stuff I find just too elegant or fancy (otherwise kind of boring) for my taste. But to each their own.

After I did some major damage at Michaels I toddled off to Winners (there's always a winner at Winners!!!) and I should have known better but I gravitated immediately towards the purse section.

I know, it's my kryptonite man!!! The next thing I know I have this lovely red shiny patent purse with silver accents and all kinds of cool compartments in my hands!! I hemmed and hawed and the good Glenda would say "but you already have a red purse" and bad Glenda would say "but not like THIS red purse" and then GG would say "you already have alot of purses" and BG would go "you deserve it, you work full time sitting in that cubicle"...etc... it was such a struggle but guess who won?

(hint, that's hanging off a door in my house...) hee hee When J got home I showed him the purse and he just rolled his eyes (he's so good that way, very generous) and I said to my new purse "come on upstairs and I'll introduce you to your new friends so you can feel right at home". haha

Last stop was at Chapters

where I got a grande mocha frappe with no whip and perused the books until this gem caught my eye

I can hardly wait to read it as it looks amazing. Full of painty art journal goodness! I grabbed a pumpkin cream cheese muffin because I hadn't eaten lunch and I was starving. I ate it on the drive home but it was kind of gross. It had a big lump of cold cream cheese in the middle and I kicked my ass for ordering something so fattening and it wasn't even that good!

It was so nice to just be by myself, shop for myself, and not have anyone saying "are you done yet?" "can we go now"...etc... I felt free and just enjoyed being by myself. I can be such a hermit it's scary!

Finished my layout for The Art is Found challenge and loved playing with cardboard. It makes me feel like I'm a kid in art class again

and I also played along for the first time with the Scrap Your Crap girls (dontcha just love that name???) and made use of my markers, paints and gel pens to make a new page for my art journal

It felt so good to add to my journal again and I hope I get all kinds of inspiration from that new book I just bought. Well, my Magistical Memories kit came in the mail yesterday so I'm going to check it out and start playing with it. Later dudes!

Happy Hump Day!

To celebrate hump day here's one of my fave songs right now (gee, guess who sings it??) haha
Live version of Become I like to sit and pretend he's singing it to me. Sigh. Oh to dream. Here's the video version of become which I prefer but they don't show him so I like to look at both! Then for hardcore lust filled fans like myself here is an interview with Johnny from last year. He just gets better with age. Swoon.

I'm hopeless I know. I hope some of you have been looking at the Magistical Memories DT call and giving it some serious thought! Come on, you know ya want to!!

I got to play along with the Scrapping the Music challenge and the song this week is one of my faves (and yes I do have favorite songs that are not sung from Johnny). It's Rod Stewart's Forever Young and as soon as I heard it I just knew the layout would be on my son because everything in the song is what I hope for him from the bottom of my heart. We have had tough times with him but I'm hoping he's now on the right track and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

He's in the 3rd week of his Welding program and seems to be liking it so send all good thoughts and karma my way, please!!

I also played along with The Design Experiment and the challenge was to scrap what you indulge in. Of course I needed more than one picture to do this justice as I couldn't just pick one!!! These are my indulgences

I finally found a time to use that funky paper that had prices all over it! woohoo!! See, it's the simple things that makes me happy. I also joined a new swap at Swap-bot, it's a background ATC swap. I will make 6 ATC backgrounds to send to 3 partners, so 18 background ATC's in all. Then I'll get 18 different ones back that I can make an ATC from. I think it will be cool to see some different techniques and get some unique backgrounds.

Ramblings:

Clay Aiken is gay did you know that? Big shocker right?? NOT!! Plus, who cares?? Like we didn't already know?? sheesh.

I had chicken tacos for supper.

I'm having a cold beer.

I still haven't painted my toenails (Bucket would be appalled...)

I need to do an art journal page as I had a few ideas pop into my head today.

I neglected my housework to scrap and drink beer tonight. My bad

Is it Sunday already??

That means I work tomorrow, uuggghhh. Where does the time go? Well I know where alot of my time has gone this weekend and it's been in my art room!! Thanks to Jo I was able to finish off these ATC cards. I had joined a "people" ATC swap over at Swap-bot and was kinda panicking because my cards were looking like crap. I had bought this awesome new unmounted rubber stamp called "Serena" and was dying to use it for this swap. But when I inked my stamp and then stamped the image this is what I got

Crap right? Yeah, I know. If you click on the pic you can see it much better. So I was like "oh man, now what???" Why is it doing this to me? I kind of figured it was the Staz on ink, because I had remembered reading before that with fine rubber stamps you have to use a fine ink like Versafine, which of course no store in my city sells. So, I emailed Jo and she said yes I should use Vesafine but I could also try reverse stamping. That's when you ink the stamp but then take the card and press it onto the stamp, instead of the other way around!! Eureka! Jo is so funny, when she emailed me back she was like "make way, make way, emergency services coming through!" haha I would love to meet her in real life but she lives in England. Darn. So Jo, you were a godsend and this is now what my cards look like:

Ok, this was one of the original ones without reverse stamping so I used pearlescent paint to paint her hair as the ink was all wonky but these are the reverse stamping ones:

So there you have it. I love using the Basic Grey Sublime papers, I stamped a script background on them and then embossed them (yeah, I'm getting fancier eh?) but I can hardly wait to get my hands on some Versafine ink and some Le Plume pens, which of course my city doesn't carry either. Gotta love living in a small city. Yep.

I'm busy making some layouts for a couple places that I'm going to be Guest Designing at, one I can't say yet but I'm super pumped to have been asked by both. It's such an honor to be asked and I'm really looking forward to it!! Oh, I'm such a wild and crazy woman, here's a pic of my fun filled crazy Friday night, uncensored!!!

Pretty crazy eh? haha Yeah, I can remember when Friday nights used to be alot more exciting than that but oh well. I do enjoy it and I had to grow up eventually right??
Oh, I almost forgot, here is the sketch layout I did for over at Scrapbook News and Review

They have a jam packed issue this month so you should really check it out! I haven't had time to go through it all as there is sooooo much!!

Why??? Why??

I had visions of making this glorious and beautiful mermaid card and it turned into shit. Don't you hate when you have this magnificent vision in your head and it turns out to be nothing like you imagined?? Yeah. I think what did it was seeing how Jo did her beautiful mermaid ATC card which looks like this

Isn't that absolutely breathtaking?? Jo, oh Obi-Wan-Jo-Kenobi, teach me!!! Teach grasshopper the way because this is what mine turned out like:

I know, holy Elvira with a tail shit!!! What was I thinking??? Red streaks with black hair?? What, was I getting into the Halloween spirit or something?? What the hell?? Then I tried to fix it by putting some white detail in her hair, something to give it some definition! bbaaahhhaaa!! Holy shit. That's all I can say. I have a ways to go so this journey should be interesting. I refuse to give in. Now we shall have to see numerous mermaid ATC cards from me until I get this right. Should be fun though right? How many mermaid massacres will there be? Stay tuned....
Just to erase some of that mermaid mishap, let's look at something nice.....

What? I did say it was Johnny Rzeznik Friday you know!

Ok, Coors Light ramblings:

- why can't any store in my bloody city carry the Somerset Memories Magazine?? Why? Is that too much to ask?? Is it???
- as I'm typing this the autosave keeps failing!! )(*&%)#&*()%#&
- I had pizza for supper, loaded with pineapple, it was awesome
- I'm going to take the boys for a walk on the trail tomorrow
- I need a haircut, bigtime...and my toenails need immediate attention

Well, that's enough rambling for tonight, I'm off to make some ATC's and hopefully they don't get massacred like that poor mermaid!!

John Rzeznik Friday

Ok, not only do I love Fridays but I love them more when I can start them off with John Rzeznik. Sigh. Here are the ATC's I did of him

I love how these turned out. Drool. Sigh. Now for some pics of him, just cause

What a gorgeous smile....

Ok, I have to run to work now but this makes it more bearable!!

Out of my comfort zone

is how I feel with the current Scrapjacked as her style is totally unlike mine. But then I thought to myself that maybe that's a good thing. Maybe it's good to try someone else's style on for size and shake things up. It may not be what you do but it gives you ideas and takes you on a journey. And that's what art is all about right? Trying new things and having fun with it. So here is my take on that Scrapjack

I love the simple grouping of pics as the focus goes entirely on the pictures and the event instead of the embellishments (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm going to keep scrappin like this but it was a refreshing change) and really lets the pics shine. That's Gay, my cosmic sister, my bestest friend, my compadre, my sidekick. It's like me in another body sometimes!! We crack each other up. Oh, gotta go. Paige is saying she's bored and will watch a movie with me and for anyone who has teen daughters you know this rarely happens (or is it just me that's cursed???) so I better run!
Later dudes!

Gettin down and dirty

This week I got down and dirty again and played in the gutter with the Gutter Girlz new challenge. Had lots of fun with this one and really put myself "out there". Some people will probably be like "whoa, really?? I never knew" but come on, who doesn't have a dirty mind?? haha Surely I can't be the only one eh? I used the newly released Magistical Memories chipboard swirls on this and loved how it turned out. Plus the Hambly was yummo!!! I have had this in my stash for a while and loved playing with it. Plus I sniffed my Hambly and it really does smell like vanilla!! I had heard this before and wondered about it so yes, it's true. Lovely stuff.

I went to the dentist today for part 1 of a 2 part crown process. After the traumatic molar mishap I vowed to never have that happen again. So, because I have a molar that had a root canal on it like 22 years ago, they say it can make it very brittle and that it should be crowned so I was like "yeah, bring it!". It wasn't bad so if anyone is needing one don't be afraid. The mammogram I had today hurt a hell of a lot worse! Yes, mammies. Don't ya just love them? All part of the yearly physical so I'm hoping I'm good to go for another 100,000 miles this year~! haha Isn't it great being a woman?? I'll leave you with these:

Mammogram Practice Exercises

Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, but there's no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day for a week preceding the exam, and doing the following practice exercises, you will be totally prepared. And you can do this right in your own home!

Exercise 1:

Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest friends slam the door shut and lean on the door for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds (while you hold your breath). Repeat again, in case the first time wasn't effective enough.

Exercise 2:

Visit your garage at 3 am when the temperature of the cement floor is just perfect. Take off your clothes and lie comfortably on the floor with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until your breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Turn over and repeat for the other breast.

Exercise 3:
Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Press the bookends against one of your breasts. Smash the bookends together as hard as you can. Set an appointment with the stranger to meet next week and do it again!!

CONGRATULATIONS!
Now you have nothing at all to worry about when you go for your Mammogram!

And just a thought for all you women out there:

MENtal illness, MENstrual cramps, MENtal breakdown, MENopause. Ever notice how all of women's problems start with men? And when we have real problems, it's HISterectomy!

P.S. Don't forget the "GUY"necologist!

Later dudes!

You know how some people

say that chocolate is their crack or triscuits are their crack (I'm talking about you Amy!!) haha. Well, ATC's are like my crack now. Yep. I'm outa control. So outta control that challenges have been posted this week and they are slipping away on me. I need to get certain layouts done and I'm just sitting here, dickin around with my ATC's (don't worry peeps who I have committed to, they'll get done!) haha aaaahhhahahahahhahahaha

Ok, now that I have that off my chest, I did FINALLY get one page done in this Basic Grey 6 x 12 chipboard album that I have had on my desk for like 8 months!!! Holy shit, like get on with it already eh? Back when I was with the Haven I started this and it still taunts me. Sitting smugly on the corner of my desk, smirking.... So, after I did the skull mini I got the idea that since this is a book of me, I'll do a page on the love of skulls. And no people, I'm not obsessed. You'll know I'm obsessed about something when I do a whole mini album on them like I did with The Goo Goo Dolls (oh wait, does that say something??) So here is the page that is getting me closer to finishing this bloody thing:

And here is my crack, I mean my ATC's I've done for the Swap-bot ATC swaps I've joined:
This is for the vampire swap

and this is for the angel swap ( used Stargazers pearlescent watercolors for this one)

and this one was for the swear swap (I LOVE this one, it cracks me up!!!)

and HELLO!!! Hot rocker swap, you had to have known who I would pick. Heeerrrre's Johnny!!!

and because I got on a roll doing ATC's of my man Johnny, I got a little carried away and am in the process of finishing 3 more, which aren't for trade but are just for me. So, yeah, that's how it all started! I'll post that eye candy later in the week!

Oh, I got my SIS crush swap ATC's in the mail today and they were awesome!! You should see Josh Duhamel's ass (make sure you click on the pic for a zoom in)!! Sa-weet!! Mine was Beckham but I kick my ass everytime I think about it because it should have been Johnny. Sigh. I think that's why I'm making up for lost time! haha
