New challenge site!

Just what I needed, ANOTHER challenge to get addicted to! haha I found this neat site called Created by Hand and the challenge was to use "blobs and splatters" so I had fun making this (I'm really loving these vintage chicks lately!)

Tuesday fun

Ok, call me naughty but you must admit this image of this man with his rooster just begs for all kinds of naughty captions!! haha I love this stamp and made this ATC for the Crazy Amigo challenge which was "colorful vintage"

Then I went back in time to make this groovy card for the
Art Pieces challenge and the theme was "retro"

I used 2 different stamps (the punch buggy courtesy of Miss Allanah Swain, thanks girly!), watercolor pencils and liquid watercolors for the groovy background. I had alot of fun making these tonight. The hubs is pouring a concrete slab so it was just me in my art room tonight. Bye for now!

Challenge crazy!

Ok, I'm madly trying to keep up with these challenge blogs and finished this ATC for the Think Monday Think ATC challenge which was on "cars"

I'm really digging that stamp of the woman driving the car, she fits perfecly on an ATC and I used that mountain scenery background stamp for the first time. Then over at Mixed Media Monday the theme was "beach" so I made this ATC using a stamps, pearlescent watercolors and acrylic paint

Now I'm off to bed, later dudes!

Monday Madness

The new challenge is up over at The Design Experiment and it's a fab challenge for you music lovers. This is my take on it (no big surprise here on who it's about eh? Sigh.)

Then I played along with the Color Create Sunday challenge and made this ATC using the orange, green and brown color combo

Last but not least made a new page for my art journal for the always fabulous A year in the life of an art journal, the word or theme this time being happy

And speaking of happy I had a great weekend. My son is finished his Welding program as of today and is a grad, we got him a car this weekend and it's a sassy black Pontiac and he and Jessica found a house to rent only 1 block away from us which is perfect for when the baby comes!! It's all falling into place and I couldn't be happier.

Here is the first pic of my future grandchild (see baby bump!) haha

I love these pics of John and I walking the dogs yesterday. Today when I was walking from my car into work, the birds were chirping, the sun was starting to shine and I thought "man it's good to be alive".

Happy Saturday!

I am so happy today because my housework is all done as I spent all day yesterday doing it, so now I can just enjoy my weekend!! Here is my take on the Crazy Amigo challenge which was "proverbs and sayings" so I made an ATC:

I also played along with the Saturday Surprise challenge and the theme was "dreams" so I made this page for my art journal:

I had alot of fun doing gel medium tranfers on a few of the images (those are the ones that look scratchy) as well as gluing some images and using paint, gold leafing, rub ons, gesso and stickers.

Last night we had Bob and Terry over for drinks and had a great time just hanging out yapping. They left a little after midnight so we slept in this morning and then John took Michael and Jessica to the auto auction and now Michael is the proud owner of a sporty black Pontiac Grand AM GT!! woohoo!! I'll have to post some pics soon but right now I'm too depressed to go downstairs for my camera and start uploading as I just finished watching Marley and Me

which was a good show but soooooooo sad!!!It really made me grabs my "boys" and give them lots of hugs and kisses and worry about when they get too old. They are already 11 so I know my time with them is coming closer all the time. Today John and I took them for a walk on the walking trail and we walked to the store to rent movies (I still have The Wrestler to watch tomorrow!) and get buns. Have you seen the movie and if so what did you think? It makes you hug your fur baby even tighter.

I'm back on track...

with the challenges! yay! As soon as I post these though I have to get my butt off this chair and clean my house as we are having a couple friends over tonight for drinks and the house is a mess! So, before I start playing Cinderella here is my art journal page for the Wednesday Stamper and the theme was "earth day". I finally used my oil pastels and created this page:

I also played along with the Thank God It's Friday challenge and the theme was "fishes" so I made this ATC using my funky rubber stamp of a cowgirl holding a platter. This platter could come in handy for many, many things and I'm glad I got her!

Ok, I'm off to scour and scrub, have a great Friday everyone!!

Theme Thursday

Yay! I'm getting back on track as I spent some time last night and completed two challenges! I made this one for the Theme Thursday challenge and the theme was "famous faces". I'm sure you all know who this rockin chick is right? Yep, Madonna, Madonna! I used my Timmy alcohol inks for the background and then used my new Prima brick wall stamp and then placed the image of Madonna on top.

Then I had alot of fun making 2 different ATC's (you know how it is when you are on a roll or have 2 ideas and can't decide on just one!) for the Art Pieces challenge, the theme being "colorful". For this one I used Timmy's alcohol inks for the background (I love you Timmy!) and then placed a really neat image on top. I also used my can of air to spray the black alcohol ink around

For this one I used liquid watercolors, gold leafing and then stamped my word

I'm hoping to work on a few more challenges tonight over some cold beer. Life is good.

I'm falling behind...

in my challenges! Since I started work again after my week of holidays I am having trouble getting caught up with all of the challenges that I have been loving doing!! I managed to get this one done for the Mixed Media Monday, and it was my first time playing along with them. The theme was mermaids to be interpreted how you will so I made a page for my art journal (loving these prompts and challenges for my art journal because sometimes you get stuck on what to journal about!)

I tried to extend the scenery in the picture onto the journal page and failed miserably! I never said I was a painter! haha

Last day off!!

So today is the last day of my glorious vacation. I go back to work tomorrow. Sigh. I had a wonderful time off though and got out and about, caught up with old friends (my friend Terry was down from Ontario yesterday and we went out for coffee, actually I had a London Fog!), watched a few good movies (last night the hubs and I watched Australia, it was pretty good, long but pretty good), made lots of neat stuff (the canvas being my absolute fave!!!!), had a good visit with my parents and just generally really enjoyed being home instead of sitting in my cubicle (well duh, who wouldn't right??) haha

So today I played along with the Color Create Sunday challenge blog and the palette today was black, white and pink, which I love! For some reason I gravitate towards this palette when doing layouts on Paige and I think it's because the mood of a teen girl can go from sweet (pink) to #%*($#%&* (black) in zero seonds! haha Love these pics of her:

I also loved my art canvas so much that I made a page for my art journal using the same color palette and similar elements

And since I'm such an art journal junkie I also did a page for the
Saturday Surprise challenge blog and the theme was "songs and music". Once again, anyone who knows me knows of my love for the Goo Goo Dolls, thus this page:

John and I took the boys for a walk on the trail this afternoon and now I'm off to crack another beer and get started on a chicken stir fry. Later dudes!

I finally made my canvas!!

Last night John went out with his cronies and I spent all night in my art room making a 16 x 20 canvas. I have been wanting to make one for my art room for a long time now and the inspiration hit and it all came together beautifully and I was sooooo happy with how it turned out. I wanted something bright, fun, happy, whimsical; something that reflected how I feel when I'm in my art room making stuff and this is what I made:

If you click on the picture you'll be able to see it in more detail. Here are some pics I snapped throughout the process of making it:

You can see here that I took a sheet of sheet music and did a gel medium transfer onto the canvas. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted as I only got a partial transfer but in the end you can't tell. I also transferred a strip of sheet music at the very top right corner.

I also used my Golden Light Moulding paste to add textures with stencils and foam stamps, a first for me!

Here I'm adding some goodies and it's all starting to come together. I used lots of stamps, images from a laser copier, rub ons, stencils, rhinestones (might be hard to see in the picture), a sticker, die cut, gold leafing pen, glimmer mists, paint, and even a scrap of lace.

And here once again is the finished canvas! I can't stop staring at it today as I just love it!!!

If you've ever wanted to do a canvas you must try it!!! It is one of the most creative and fun things to do and the feeling you have when you are done and able to hang it in your own art room is incredible.

Happy Friday!

Last night John and I watched the movie 7 pounds with Will Smith

and it was so good. At first you don't know what's going on but as the movie progresses it grabs you and doesn't let you go. It's no action movie, it's not fast paced, but it is a very moving movie that sticks with you long after it's over. Here is the trailer for it (make sure you mute Johnny singing at the very bottom of the blog by clicking on the sound button)

I finally finished a layout on Bethany, my car, that John got me in the fall. I know, how bad is that eh? But it seems like I've been so busy and always have certain layouts to do for DT work or challenge blog work so it was fun to just do a couple just for fun! So without further adieu here is Bethany:

I had fun using this image for the
Thank God It's Friday challenge which was "umbrellas" and made this ATC:

Off to start my day!

Just a quick post...

to post my 2 challenges I got done today! Here is my first ever altered postcard for the Wednesday Stamper. You had to alter the back of a postcard and I must admit it was really fun and I used some of my new Timmy stamps I got yesterday as well as my new watercolor crayons that I had been wanting to try:

I also made this ATC for the Theme Thursday challenge which was "glamour girls". I loved this image of a pin up girl so I did the packing tape transfer technique and layered her over some patterned paper and added some embellishments:

Well, I'd love to stay and play all day in my art room but I have to get going and get some stuff done!!

Happy Hump Day!

I know I'm still off all this week but today brings home the fact that my vacation is 1/2 over. But I have been packing alot of fun in on my time off, which is awesome!! Last night I rocked the kazba with my best friend Gay, or Gayner as I love to call her, at a local pub that was hosting the 80's band Toronto. Yeah, what a flashback eh? I was disappointed in the sound system but hey, what did I expect in a small pub that only seated like 100 people?? It brought back alot of memories though and it was so much fun getting out and about. Here are some pics of the concert

and here are some fun and goofy pics. After the concert Gay and I walked around downtown looking for great photo ops and had alot of fun getting these (these are just a few, man we had fun!!)

Yes, good times were had by all! Today I took Paige to the dentite for her checkup and cleaning and then after that we all headed to Regina to shop. What was going to be mother/daughter day turned into family day and I was glad it did because if you have a teen daughter you know how they can be. I expected a cheerful disposition (hey, we're spending money for new clothes right??) and maybe even a few laughs, some bonding. But noooo. Thank God John was with us because he was my company so I still managed to have fun. I can just hardly wait though for her to be out of this phase and back to being the fun and happy girl she used to be, before she turned into a teenager. I managed to run into Michaels while they waited in the car and got a soldering gun (yeah, I will make some jewellery yet!) and a new set of Tim Holtz stamps (Timmmeeeeee!!!). I was super pumped to see they carried Timmy! Then we came home and John and I watched Nights in Rodanthe and my tears have now just finished drying.

Even John had to admit that the movie was "ok", which for him meant I think he secretly liked it! haha

Ok, today was the new Dream Girls challenge and make sure you also set a new bookmark as the site has moved. All of you movie buffs will love this new challenge and here is my take on it:

Also, the new Gutter Girlz challenge was up today and for anyone who has ever been lied to you will love this one. I did a page for my art journal (yes, the same art journal I sent to Somerset and I heard back from them early this week that it arrived safe and sound!! yay!!!!) for this prompt:

Since the weather is and will be pissing rain for the next couple days I'm hoping to have a little time in my art room to get caught up on today's stamper challenge and tomorrow's new ones.

Terrific Tuesday!

Why is today so terrific you ask? Well, because for one I'm on holidays. For two, I go see Holli Woods tonight with my best friend (I'm hoping to get some good pics of us rocking the kazba so tune in tomorrow!), for three I feel blessed and for four because I was able to play and finish 3 challanges! I have lots of other reasons but I'll leave it at that as I have to get ready to go out on the town soon! woohoo!! Ok, played along with Art Pieces weekly challenge and the challenge today was about music. Well, for anyone who knows me you know exactly what that brought to mind for me dontcha? YYyyeeeesss, the Goo Goo Dolls!!!!! Sigh.

I used a pic of Johnny slammin on the guitar (sooooo hot!), patterned paper, some yummy Hambly and a rub on. Another one to add to my shrine. haha!

Then I also played along for the first time with the Crazy Amigo challenge blog, which is every Tuesday as well. The name alone made me want to play!! Who can resist anything called Crazy Amigo?? Not I. So their theme today was nature and this is my card (I took some wallpaper samples from a paint store and used this wood grain one as my background):

I haven't played along with Scrap your crap for a long time and they had a challenge that was to use up something you have been hoarding. Well I've been hoarding all of these labels and tags from various things I've bought and loved making this layout

Ok, I'm off to get ready for this evening's festivities!!
