ATC marathon

Ok, John is napping (we did alot of running around today looking at computer desks and new shoes for him) and during his nap I pumped out 3 ATC's for this weeks various challenges. First up we have the Wednesday Stamper challenge which was to use "purple and green". I'm sure my version is going to be very different than what they are used to but come on, doesn't it look like she's saying that?? haha I used alcohol inks for the green background and then stamped the brick with one of Prima's fab new stamps!

Next up is the
Created by hand and the challenge was to use "insects" so I made this ATC

and last but not least was the Theme Thursday challenge (I told you I was behind!) and the theme was "tags". I have had this 7 Gypsies tag for a couple years and just love when I'm challenged to use up some of my stash!!

Yesterday when I was out and about looking for computer desks I went to Staples and they were having an outdoor garage sale. I picked up an electric pencil sharpener regular $20 on for $5!!! I've always wanted one for my watercolor pencils so I was quite pumped. I also visited my LSS and of course came away with a new Glimmermist (candy apple red!) and 5 more sheets of paper. Somebody stop me!!! haha

I have to post my Dream Girls challenge a little early as I have to take my old computer in today for the data transfer and won't be set up until tonight or tomorrow. So...here is my take on the challenge which was a card sketch so I did an ATC

So the next time I'll be coming to you from my new computer!!!yay!!! I can hardly wait!!!

Better late than never. Again.

Ok, so this week has kicked my ass in sooo many ways. First I have been soooo tired and I'm not sure why. Then I went to my first body blast class Thursday and it seriously blasted my body. I can barely sit on the toilet without the fronts of my thighs quivering in pain of what's to come (thank you lunges). But, if I can get past this feeling that I've literally been hit by a truck, I think this class will be just what I need to kick it up a notch. It was a full hour and she had us doing ab work, lunges, ball work, weights. It was awesome. I thought since I work out daily anyways I'd be ok. Um, no. This just showed me how much I have to pump it up. The teacher is a young thing and has an amazing body too which is super inspiring! I have some running around to do today and am anticipating people asking me if I've been injured or perhaps in a car accident as I'm walking very slow and slightly gibbled. Pathetic eh? haha

Ok, it doesn't hurt too much to type or make stuff (as long as I don't have to get out of my chair! haha) so here are 4 challenges I was able to play along with this week. Of course I'm late again but that's ok. Here's my take on Mixed Media Monday and the theme was "feathered friends". I had this beautiful image and have been wanting to use it for some time

Then I played with the Think Monday Think ATC and the theme was "wild animals" so I made this

The theme over at
Crazy Amigos was "stripes" and I loved this image of these 3 ladies in their bathing suits

Last but not least was the Art Pieces with the theme being "flowers" so I used my stamp and watercolor pencils

Also, the fabulous new
Gutter Girlz prompt is up and Magistical Memories is sponsoring it with the prize being a Scrap Easel!! I love my scrap easel so you don't want to miss out on a chance to win this! Here is my take on the challenge (a page for my art journal)

Well, I'm off to buy a new computer today! Yesterday I did my homework and visited the local computer peeps (I'm not doing Staples this time, keeping it local!) and got my price sheets and am now going to take the plunge. I wanted someone local that services the computers here because last time Staples had to send mine away and I was without it for around 3 1/2 weeks!!! Can you imagine being unplugged for that long? I almost died! I'm no technie so I can't really tell you alot about the computer other than it will have a widescreen LG screen (nice!), an AMD motherboard and CPU, a 500 GIG hard drive (lots of room for scrappy layouts and pics!!) and 2 GIG of RAM (it's all Greek to me!!) haha I just want a fast computer with no more errors, no more teens going on and downloading songs that give me viruses!! So DD Paige is happy she's going to be getting my old computer (which is still nice as it's only 3 years old!) and I'm happy to get my own, that will be password protected so when DS comes over he can't download his rap crap onto it and give me more viruses! haha I can hardly wait!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!

New Pubs!!

I was so excited to get my copy of the July/August 2009 Memory Makers magazine because I'm on page 62!! I did a layout on my son being in his Welding program and how it was a new beginning for him. I'm pretty sad that Memory Makers is going to be no more soon and I hope that we don't start to see more magazines folding.

Then I also got my copy of the Summer 2009 Canadian Scrapbooker in the mail and I'm on page 125!

I just love when I finally get to see my creations in print, it's always such a thrill for me!!

This week I scrapped two layouts, the first being the concert my friend Gay and I went to last month that had Holli Woods of the 80's band Toronto playing

I think we almost had more fun after taking these wild and crazy pictures than we did at the concert!! haha It was a blast hearing all the old songs that I used to love and her voice still sounded good!

Then last month John and I went bowling with another couple and I finally got around to scrapping that

Well, I'm just beat for some reason, not sure why but I know it's going to be an early night for me tonight. I signed up for this "body blast" fitness class that's every Thursday for an hour so I have a feeling I'm going to need all of my strength for tomorrow!! haha

It's raining it's pouring my old man is snoring...

I couldn't resist because for one, it really is raining and for two, the hubs really is snoring, I can hear him from my art room!! haha The biggest thing that I have to post about right now is that my son is now a grad!!! He graduated from his Welding program and we are soooo proud of him!! I have prayed all year that he would do well and finish and he did. I did a layout on him with his new car that we got him using the Magistical Memories "shining so brightly star". I embossed the star with black embossing powder and it is gorgeous, just like my son!

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders because we prayed all year for this and it's finally come true. I hope for all good things from here on in for him. I can't believe that he's 19 now, how did I get this old??

I did play with the Lots to do challenge the weekend and the theme was "crackle" so I dug out my Timmy crackle paint and did a blue background and then stamped my mermaid. It's not one of my fave ATC's but hey, I tried!

I had this image of an iceberg and did this page for my art journal

I just can't seem to get enough of my art journal. Love. Sigh.

Yesterday I did get these pics when I drove out to see some Canada Geese (they are super fast!!) haha

Paige and her friend Melissa had a photoshoot and I was able to get my hands on some of the pics and picnik them and was so happy with how they turned out. I can truly see the beautiful young woman she is becoming (the glasses are her friend's fake glasses, apparently it's fashionable to want glasses!)

I have truly been blessed!! I took Paige to get a new phone on Friday (the new LG Voyager) and she is so pumped!! This phone does everything except make a chicken dinner!! haha She can surf the net, update her Facebook, go on MSN, download and watch videos and listen to music, etc... it's amazing! I'm so happy to done with Rogers and over to SaskTel that I feel like having a party!! haha Well, back to work tomorrow so I better check out. Hope you all had a great weekend!!

The sun is shining!!

Finally, the sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day!! I'm sitting here in my jammies, having my coffee and planning what I'm going to do. I think I'll stop off at the scrappy store and see if they have anything tempting and then get some groceries. I also want to drive to this spot where some Canada Geese are living and try to take some pictures, wish me luck!!

Last night I had the house to myself (it was glorious!) and played along with a few challenges. The first one was the Inspire me Thursday and it was the first time I've played along with them. I have lurked but this is my first time playing! haha The theme was "warrior" so I made an ATC using alcohol inks for the background (Timmmmmeeee!!) and this stunning image from the net

Then I played with the
Thank God It's Friday and the theme was "pin up girls", one of my faves!! I made a page for my art journal using this amazing image that was sent to me by Kimbo at SIS (thanks Kimbo, I'm finally putting them to good use!!)

I know it's hard to tell but I did stamp squares in a darker red for my background.

Last but not least was the Saturday Surprise with the theme being "wish" and this is one wish that I have had for almost 3 years now!!!

Ok, I have to get out of this house and get some stuff done so later dudes!

A year in the life....

of an art journal! New prompt!! Woot! The word over at the A year in the life of an art journal this time is "just" and this was my take on it

I loved how this page turned out. I had been saving that woman's face from a piece of Basic Grey paper for quite some time and loved how it all came together.

I played along with
Theme Thursday and the theme this time was "numbers". I took a piece of glossy cardstock and played around with my alcohol inks (black and copper) and then stamped with a number stamp, embossed with silver embossing powder and then placed this gorgeous image on top of that.

Also, make sure you check out the
Dream Girls challenge blog as we are having a DT call! If you've ever wanted to be a part of a fun team and have some awesome challenges make sure you run, don't walk, and check it out!

Happy Friday!

Rock me Amadeus

(make sure you hit the mute icon at the very bottom before watching this to get Johnny to stop singing...)

for some reason I have had this song in my head off and on for a looonnggg time! It cracks me up but at the same time I will walk around the house just singing "rock me amadeus" haha!!

Ok, now that we are all singing rock me Amadeus, here is an ATC I made for the Mixed Media Monday and the theme was altered people so I made this little guy

Then for the Art Pieces challenge the theme was to use "lace" so I gave her a little lace skirt

Last but not least was the Created by hand challenge and the challenge was to use pink and green

So there you have it folks! I'm still working on my Theme Thursday card, a bit stuck at the moment but should have something soon. Have a great day!

Mid week already!

Wow, since Monday was a holiday it didn't take long for Wednesday to come, which is a bonus! I finally played along again with the Scrapping the Music challenge again and found a perfect reason to use up all of these little mini pics

I also played along with the Creative Therapy and it felt good as it had been waaaayyy too long since I played with them. It also gave me a chance to do a page for my art journal on one of the qualities I love so much about John. He is so easygoing and cheerful that I wish I were more like him but I'm not. So I just have to be grateful that he brings this into my life

And yes, you may have noticed that I'm still a masking and glimmermisting fool!! mmwwaaaahhhaaaaaa!!!

Color Create

Slowly catching up and playing along again, boy that feels good! Here's my ATC for the Color create challenge and I really love this palette of color!

I slept in today until 11:30!!! I can't remember the last time I slept that long, it was decadent! At first I was kind of like "whoa, I've wasted 1/2 my day!" and then I was like "well, I must have needed it" so I just embraced it. I did some running around today as the hubs had to work (wah!) and hit up the dollar store (they had some awesome Dove face products like eye cream, night cream, cleansers and neck and chest serums on for $2.00 and Walmart was selling the eye cream for $22.96!!!! So I grabbed 2 of each!!!)and Superstore where I scored a real nice hoody for John (it was grey with a nice metal zipper. Those plastic zippers never last for him!) and then the old Giant Tiger store (this is a Canadian discount store that has everything from grocery items to awesome deals on great clothes). I just picked up some food stuff but they also had a double pack of 16 x 20 canvases, double gesso primed for $9.95! I'm sure I paid $14.99 last time at Walmart for a double pack.

Oh, the season finale of Desperate Housewives, anyone watch it?? It was 2 hours of awesomeness!!!! Wow, I can't wait until the fall when it starts up again!! Other than that, I'm just packing up a layout that I have to send away to Scrapbook Trends (woot!) and then will finish up a layout. Poor John is snoozing already as he has a big pour tomorrow so I know I'll be a work widow again.

Oh, and make sure you check out the DT call over at Dream Girls Challenge Blog and if you have ever wanted to join make sure you throw your hat in the ring. Remember what I always say, you can't win if you don't play! Later dudes!

I accomplished some challenges!

yay! I played again with the Saturday Surprise challenge site and the theme was "time" so I made this page for my art journal (yes, I realize that I cannot stop masking and glimmer misting....)

then I made an ATC for the Lots to do challenge site and we were to use wood on our project, so I put this Basic Grey popsicle stick onto this ATC

Next up was the Saturday's Workout challenge which was "splin splash backgrounds" so out came the Timmy alcohol inks and my trusty can of spray air

Last but not least was the Theme Thursday (trying to catch up here! haha) and the theme was "masculine" and I had these fabulous images that I've been wanting to use so I created the background using Timmy alcohol inks and stamped the trees. I like to call this one "double trouble"

So there you have it! I had some time last night to fool around and make these and it was sooo nice.

The long weekend is finally here!

Halleluja! I made it! I am STILL fighting this sinus thing, now it's moved into my right side. I can't believe how long this thing is lingering. Ok, enough of my sickness, check out the new Dream Girls challenge, it's a doozy! Here is my take on it

You also have to check out the new Gutter Girlz challenge PLUS we are looking for new designers so run, don't walk!! Here's my take on the challenge, a page for my art journal:

I have really been into the masking and glimmer mists lately, can't get enough of them!! Because I've been sick this week I've missed out on all the other challenges I ususally like to do but I'm hoping to have a bit of time this weekend to try a few.

Oh, last night John and I watched the movie called "Taken" and it was soooo good!! It was the kind of movie that sticks with you the next day and has you feeling so sad and horrified that this crap actually goes on in the world. Every day. Liam was amazing in this movie!!

We also watched the comedy "Promotion" and it was so funny! Not as much in the "hahaha" way but it had alot of dry humour, which I loved. Plus I just love Sean Scott, he's hilarious!

Have a great day!

I'm alive!!

I've been fighting a sinus cold since the weekend and it's been sucking the life out of me. Monday I was home sick, yesterday I crippled my way to work and sat in my cubicle blowing the crap out of my nose (it's a fairly unattractive scaly red right now) and today I sat in a "Retire with Ease" seminar hopped out on cold meds. Because of this I just realized I didn't post the new The Design Experiment Challenge so hop on over and check it out and let me know what you miss! Here is mine

Also I had this layout on me and my best bud, my side kick, my confidante using the Magistical Memories chipboard scallop lace border which I painted black and outlined in white and the super cute cocktail that I painted and put our initials on

Well, that's all I have peeps. Going to get to bed early again and fight this thing so I can be back to 100%. Later dudes!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you all had a wonderful mother's day! I woke up this morning with a sore throat and sinus troubles, again, and had some breakfast and took some cold medicine which put me to sleep from 1-4 today. I know, can you believe it? What a way to spend mother's day eh? But when John got home from work he surprised me with these beautiful roses!!!

At first he came in and said "Happy mother's day, I got you a case of beer" and I came from downstairs and saw a case of Canadian laying by the front door. In my mind I was thinking "and are there flowers or a card in that box of beer??" but then he went back outside to his truck and brought me in these and said "let's try this again, happy mother's day". Isn't that the sweetest???? He said it only took him 20 years to learn this! haha Of course I was wishing I didn't have to meet him in my flannel pjamas but hey, when you aren't feeling 100% what can you do? Lucky for me he loves me just the way I am. So we sat on the deck while he barbequed hamburgers and then had supper. What a sweetie.

In the morning when I had a little bit of jam I made this ATC for the Color Create Sunday challenge using alcohol inks, stamping and watercolor pencils.

I also finally took each of the Timmy alcohol inks that I own and put a small drop of them onto glossy cardstock. Then I took my paper punch and popped a small circle out of each and using my hot glue gun glued the sample color onto each bottle. Voila!
I found that the bottle didn't truly show you the color that you were getting and I wish that Timmy would just sell them like this (hey Tim, this would be a fab idea!!) haha It would have saved me probably 15 minutes this morning but oh well, it's done!

Well, that's all my excitement for today. If I would have been feeling better I was wanting to have gone out to this big field where a whack of Canada Geese hang out and take some pictures but that didn't happen. I'm thinking on my way home from work the next nice day I'll deek off and do this. Have a great night!

I'm a work widow....

Yeah, here I am on a Saturday night, in my art room, pumpin out the challenges because the hubs is sleeping. He has been working long hours ('tis the season for concrete work you know!) and has to work again tomorrow. On Mother's Day! I know!! But, I'm not going to feel sorry for myself. If anything I'll think how lucky I am to have the day off while he has to work, poor guy!! After he got off work today we took the boys for a walk on the trail and then had supper together. We started watching "Bride Wars" but he fell asleep 1/4 of the way into it. I should have known as it's a chick flick but I liked it. So, with the hubs asleep what's a girl to do but check out the challenges right?? Right. So, what's behind door number 1? Well it's the Saturday Surprise and the theme was "how does your garden grow?", to be interpreted however you choose. So I did a page for my art journal (surprise!) haha

Then I meandered over to the Theme Thursday site and the theme was "dance/music" and I made this ATC

Next stop on the crazy train was the Lots to do challenge site where the theme was "stripes/lines" so I made this ATC using 2 different stamps. It was my first time using the harem girl stamp and I think it's such a beautiful stamp.

Last stop of the evening (I know, stop the wild and craziness eh? haha!) was the Thank God It's Friday site and the theme was "childhood". For this ATC I did a packing tape transfer using 2 images and then stamped and embossed the frame.

Now I'm just waiting for the DD to come home so I can fall into bed and try to get rid of this cold I've been fighting all day. I woke up with a sore throat and my left sinus sore and runny, and then mid morning it went away. The rest of the day I was fine and then later tonight it started up again so I took a vitamin C and had a London Fog. I'm hoping to nip it in the bud! Have a great night!
