Word up!

The word this time over at the One Little Word Challenge was "open" and I had to think about it for a while, but that's why I love playing along with those guys so much is because the words make you think about things that you wouldn't ordinarily think of. So, I found a quote I loved (and you know how much I love my quotes) and used the Magistical Memories chipboard scallop lace border, painted it black and then added some pearls and rhinestones to it

I love the soft colors to this paper (it's the new 7 Gypsies paper) and I also used some Glimmer Mist and one of my Glimmer Screens in the top right corner. Well, time to head out to work so happy hump day!!

I survived my boot camp class last night

I was a little worried because since I was sick I just don't have all of my energy back and am not feeling 100%, but I survived boot camp last night! I signed up to take it on Mondays (which is a killer night for this!) from 4:30 to 5:30 and it's nuts. The instructor is killer fit and really puts us through the paces. Today I am so sore it hurts to lower myself onto the toilet (sorry for the visual!) as my thighs are screaming. But, this is good because I know it's working! The one good thing about having the class on a Monday is that you get it over with! haha

I made this layout on John and his love of music because I wanted to document how he went to a garage sale (a few of them actually!) this summer and came home toting 2 big boxes of old records! Of course this now meant he needed a turntable right? So he went and bought this fancy turntable that you can play the record and record it onto CD's! What will they think of next eh? I used the Magistical Memories chipboard musical note for this.

I was happy to bust out my Timmeeee alcohol inks and play along with this weeks challenge over at Saturday's Workout where the theme was "grunge with alcohol inks". So I used my fave Prima brick stamp and stamped on top of the alcohol inks and used an image of Marilyn Monroe

Then the theme over at the Lots to Do challenge blog was to use "orange and black and if you wish one other color". So, I used this patterned paper that is orange and pink and left my image in black and white and used some bubblewrap to add more pink. I made this one do double duty as the theme over at
Created by Hand was "play" so this counts towards that challenge as well (sometimes you just need to kill two birds with one stone!) haha

Of course my scanner isn't showing the true colors of this, it really is orange with pink bubblewrap paint! Well, the hubs is working late tonight so I'm going to see if I can pump out a couple more ATC's or a journal page for the other challenges I'm wanting to play along with this week. Before I go check this out! Can you believe there are seriously guys out there like this?? Man I'm glad I'm not single!!! haha

Lazy Sundays

are the best!! I had coffee this morning and then started on a layout about John and his love for music. I finally took a pic of my Dollar Store score from yesterday and here it is

Everything you see here was $1.25, pretty cheap eh? And those are Li'l Davis paints which I found online in a Canadian store for $4.25 and in the states they were $3.29. So I hit the jackpot baby!! That's why I grabbed all 14 and ran!! haha Those rhinestone words were a good deal too and I got the ones that said "Hottie", "love", "I heart you" and "you & me". Again, all for $1.25. I looovveeeee dollar stores deals!! How about you, do you have dollar stores and do you love to shop there?

Here's a layout I did on Paige. I had all of these pictures of her turning away, walking away, hiding, laughing, etc... and I thought hmmm...what shall I do with these? Then when I got this cool pic of a closeup of her hand trying to block my camera I picniked those words onto it and the rest of the layout idea just came to me.

It just goes to show you that the pictures you think are ruined or not good for anything actually can make a banging layout! I love the bright green of that Hambly against the purple camo.

Today Michael and Jessica came over with my little man and it was sooo good to see him again! I tell you, this little guy just gets cuter every time I see him, seriously! I missed his baby shower last weekend because I was so sick so we gave them our gift as well as one from my BF. We got him a Glow-worm, a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, a hoodie, a pair of sweats, a onesie and a few other little things. My BF got him this adorable little football jersey and then a complete outfit of jeans, t-shirt and vest. I asked Grampa if he wanted to hold him and usually John hims and haws but this time he just said ok (I think he was nervous when he was a newborn) and was a natural!

Look at his little jeans, aren't they adorable??? Then I held the little bobber (notice how much he loves his Grama???) hehe

His head smelled sooo good, like a freshly washed baby head. Nothing smells better. Nothing. Then here is the new family

I just love this picture of them. I took a few but this is my favorite. I'm so lame that I FINALLY did my first layout of Keegan (he's a little over 2 months old and I'm just scrapping him now?? WTH??) and love how it turned out. These pictures are just so precious

Well, I'm off to get ready to watch the season premiere of Desperate Housewives, I can hardly wait!!!

Another gorgeous day!

I can't believe the beautiful weather we've been having!! It was in the high twenties yesterday and for September that is almost unheard of~! Today we are expecting a high of 24 which is still awesome! John and I took the boys for a walk to the store to rent a movie last night and we watched

It was cute and had some funny parts. I gave it a 7 out of 10. We also barbequed hamburgers which was nice because who knows how many barbeques we have left. Today I have to go get groceries and I'm waiting for the SaskTel dude to come (that's my internet service provider) because yes, I am still having internet connection issues. This has been a 3 month ordeal and I just want it fixed. I'm starting to think we are going to have to move to correct this problem. Before I go here is a layout I did a while back in May and am just posting now. I used the Magistical Memories chipboard flower on it

I just love Canada Geese. Did you know that they are one of the few animals that mate for life? It's true. That's why I feel sad when I see one dead because you never know if they will take another. Here's a little trivia for you:

Canada geese (and swans) do mate for life. Mated pairs not only raise and protect their young together, but also look out for one another over the course of their lives. One mate will stay by the other's side if injured or dying, even if the rest of the flock is moving on. They are extremely devoted to one another.

It is certainly possible that when one goose dies, the survivor will find a new partner. However, as with people, every goose is different. Whether or not a goose decides to pursue a new mate involves a number of factors, many of which we don't fully understand. Members of pair that have been together for many years are probably less likely to take a new mate than had the situation involved a younger pair -- but it is still up to the individual bird.

Canada geese are very social creatures, so the lone goose will always have a flock to be associated with when he or she chooses to socialize again. (Sometimes geese in mourning will stay by themselves.) It is possible that the goose will become a loner, but it is impossible to generalize. Again, it depends on the specific goose's "personality."

Artist Trading Cards

are right up there with journal pages!!! I tell you, once you start making these little guys there is no stopping. Ever. Case in point, last night I pumped out 6 of these little dudes. I'm going to need to buy a new binder (I have 3 filled already!) as my current one is almost full. This first one is for the Wednesday Stamper and the theme was "let the sun shine" so I used 2 different stamps on this as well as my watercolor pencils

This next one is for the Theme Thursday and the challenge was to use "script/writing" in your creation

Last but not least was the Thank God it's Friday challenge and the theme was "wonderful trees". In one of my ATC trades someone had sent me this extra card and they had done this fabulous background using these 2 colors and I think some kind of emboss resist? Anyways, it was perfect for this background for the trees as it resembles a sunset

I don't send "extras" when I trade ATC's and alot of people do. I have been lucky to receive some really unsual and unique extras like this image of a little fish "Queen Bee" sketched and colored that I put on this ATC that I call "Hambly fish"

and I was also sent this lovely image of a flower someone must have watercolored so I made this ATC using it

and then this one I made just because I love this quote

Well, it's almost noon and I haven't showered or anything!! I need to start my day as I have some running around to do. Have a great Friday everyone!!

As far as I can tell...

What a fun way to start the title for a layout eh? This was the challenge over at Category Stories and I had wanted to do a layout on how ironic it is that I yearn to travel and see the world but am afraid to fly. So...this is what I made

I love this new paper by Making Memories, it was fun to play with. I also made this ATC for the open theme over at Inspire me Thursday using this fabulous image from the net, a couple different patterned papers, stickles and some paint and I call it "Tattooed Princess"

I went to the Dr. today to get my test results and she said that I was low on calcium and to start taking supplements. I was very surprised because I have cereal every morning, a yogart and a slice of cheese during the day. She said that obviously wasn't enough. So...back to taking the calcium. As for my other blood work she said my white blood cells were a little low but that is probably because of the viral infection I was fighting and still am. I told her I've been nauseas off and on this week and quite tired. She said it will take some time to get over it and to just drink lots of fluids and rest. I have to see her next Wednesday for my complete annual physical so we'll do blood work again as I want to make sure my white cells go back up! I am such a hypochondriac, it's sickening. She tells me this and of course my mind races and I start googling causes of low white blood cells!! Hypochondriacs should never, ever, ever google or open medical journals. EVER. But, I'm going to put it out of my mind and assume she's the Dr. and knows what she's talking about. She said it was even possible I had the H1N1 but that the chances were slim as I had no cough. Wouldn't that be something???

Art journaling and John Rzeznik, 2 of my favorite things!!

I was a bit of an art journaling fool and did 3 pages in the last couple of days. This first one I made for the Created by Hand challenge blog and the theme was "texture". So...I documented my love of nature and used patterned paper, paint, rub ons and a silk leaf.

I left some of the leaf peeking up so when my journal is closed you can see it. I like that. I also like the fabulous quote by Anne Frank. This is the first time I've seen that quote and it is sooooo true. I took the boys out tonight for a walk on the walking trail and I thought about this quote as we were walking and I was like "yep. It's true".

These next 2 journal pages are for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and I was so happy that Rachel sent out 2 almost back to back! This first theme was "Read. What was/is your favorite book?" and I chose to do my art journal page on comics. When I was a kid I loooovveeed comic books. I had an awesome collection and could read them for hours. That's one thing I love about journaling is now I have this documented so I will never forget.

The next theme was "Song. Share a line out of one of your favorite songs". Well any of you who know me know, without a doubt, that I would choose a song by the Goo Goo Dolls! haha I chose a line from the song "Better Days", I love this song for so many reasons and this line always sticks with me because it's something I wish for too.

Now for those of you that don't understand my obsession, I mean fascination, with the Goos (ok, John Rzeznik in particular) check out this video and see for yourself. It's an amazing song sung by an amazing man. Sigh. (make sure you mute the song playing at the very bottom of my blog so you can hear this one)

Sigh. Now do you see?? Ok, next up I played along with Art Pieces and the theme was "vehicles" so I made this ATC and I call it "Times have changed"

I also made an ATC for my 7 Gypsies spinner

Oh look at me go!! haha I also have some exciting chipboard news!!! Check out this massive sale by Magistical Memories!! You don't want to miss out on this as they have a huge new release and also some very funky clear acrylic pieces!!

Back to the wonderful grind

I never thought I would say that I was so happy to be back at work! The only reason being of course is that I am able to - work that is. There is nothing worse than not having your health, seriously. To be able to fully function and get back to what I was able to do made me so grateful. I had a couple periods of nausea during the day but like a trooper I soldiered through. When I got home I made spicy italian sausages, perogies with fried onions and corn. Yum! Then I watched some Intervention and Hoarders. I love Monday TV!!

I made a page for my art journal about the horrid experience I had with that shitty Biaxin. I called the Dr. today to see if my test results were in and to make sure that me switching to my Nu-Cephalex that I had on hand was ok (just call me Dr. Glenda!) and the nurse said it was fine but no results were in. So, now that I'm fairly confident I'm not dying I'll just keep my Thursday appt. and find out what this episode was all about then. I also told the nurse to mark in my file the bad experience I had with this stuff and to make sure I'm never given it again.

Oh, this was my first time playing along with the These are a few of my favorite things challenge blog and the theme was "what is your favorite room?". Now I actually have a few, my kitchen and my art room though compete for top honors. Since I didn't have a picture of my kitchen on hand my art room won out! haha

I loved seeing the DT's take on what their fave rooms were, you have to check it out! Well, I'm off to read in bed as last night I stayed up waaaayyy too late. I got sucked in watching "A walk to remember" until midnight. Then after all my crying I was so stuffed up I probably didn't get to sleep until close to 12:45 am, and my alarm goes off at 6:00 am!! This is one of my favorite shows though so it was totally worth it.

Word up!

First of all let me say halleluja!!!! Today is the first day that I have felt better since this whole ordeal started. The antibiotics the Dr. gave me was the worst experience of my life and it left me thinking I was going crazy or dying, no shit! The name of this horrible medicine is called Biaxin and I will never, ever take it again. Yesterday morning was my last dose and then I stopped taking it and just started taking some good ole Nu-Cephalex I had and almost immediately my horrible side effects were going away. I had full body twitching, nausea so bad I couldn't leave my bed (which I had been in since Monday at 5:30 pm remember), shakiness, insomnia, crying spells and feelings of doom, bad dreams and my body felt "wired", like it was hooked up to an electrical current. I googled to see if anyone else had had these symtoms and was surprised and happy to see I wasn't alone. So many people had had bad experiences with this drug (one person got themselves arrested as they flipped out while on it! holy shit eh?) and then I knew this stuff was killing me. I was relieved to know that this was the cause and already am feeling 80% better!! So, keep your fingers crossed for me that I'm on my way back to the land of the living! I can't believe I lost a whole week of beautiful weather and of enjoying life so I have alot of making up to do.

Now back to the One Little Word challenge blog and the word this time is "invincible". I had done this layout before I got sick and I really enjoyed using this word

I am so looking forward to playing a bit in my art room today, I missed it soooooooo bad. Sometimes I would walk feebly past it to get water and stare longingly at it. A couple times I sat weakly in my chair just wishing I felt good enough to play. This next layout was one I had done a little while ago too, just a quick simple one showcasing some pictures from my summer

And my package came from Scrapbooker's Paradise when I was sick and the hubs brought it to my sickbed. This was the one where I had ordered a bunch of Glimmer Mists for $4.75!!! I know, can you believe it?? In Canada here my lSS charges $9.99 so I was pumped. I think the colors are discontinued but I don't care! Mist is mist baby!!

The first one called "Frozen Lake" is a new winter release so I paid full price for it but I had to have it!! haha This is my whole collection now, my preciousssss......

Seriously, I am addicted to these and collecting all of the colors! That's why I would have been on cloud 9 to have been picked for the Tattered Angels DT, it would have fed my addiction for free! haha But alas, it wasn't to be and if there is one thing I've learned it's that things are meant to be for a reason. I won't change my style for any manufacturer, I am who I am. I know alot of them like the cookie cutter cutesy style, scrap with one picture and put a load of product on it but that's not realistic for me. So, I will continue scrapping happily for me as that's what it's all about first and foremost. They got some amazing people on the team though and I am super happy for them. Congrats ladies!

Well, that's about all I have for now because when you're an invalid there isn't much going on. I could tell you about Jerry Springer, Ellen Degenerous, Maury and Steve Wilkos though! haha Talk about TV overload, and crap to boot! haha

I've been laying in my sickbed....

since Monday after work at 5:30 pm. I know! I thought I would come and update this to let you all know that I'm still alive and to also have a break from laying on my back. I have been soooo sick with a fever, body aches, headache and extreme fatigue. I feel like an animal that had been hit by a car and left in the ditch to die. I went to the doctor today because hey, it's day 3 and I'm still in bed! She checked me out and says it's an infection of some kind or possibly the flu but she has me on some heavy duty antibiotics now and I got my blood work done and did the old urine sample. I go back to see her next Thursday to find out the results but the antibiotics must be starting to work as this is the longest I've sat up in days. Have you ever been so sick you've cried? Yeah. I did. I was starting to get worried that it was something serious because I've never felt that sick before. John even said he's never seen me so sick and that the bedroom smelled of death! haha He's been keeping his distance and tossing me water bottles from the doorway. This morning was my first shower since Monday, I was disgusting.

I am so behind on visiting all my blog peeps and posting my projects so I'll quickly post the Gutter Girlz challenge and here it is:

THE PROMPT:
I'm not ur bitch, BITCH
THE SONG:
U and Ur HAND by Pink
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE:
Lipstick

I took some of the lyrics from the song and used the fabulous Magistical Memories chipboard skull and star

Next is the Dream Girls challenge which is

Prompt: "First Impressions" - Using the first line of a book - eg: Jane Austin's Pride and Predjuice "IT is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife
Product: Paper with words on it
Technique: Paint washing - watered down paint to create a sutble paint effect.

and this was my take on it

Well gang, it's back to my sickbed so I will try and catch up as soon as I'm feeling better. Hope your week is going better than mine!

Embossing Frenzy

I'm not sure why but it must have been a bit of withdrawal because the 3 ATC's I made this weekend for the various challenges I used black embossing powder on all of them! haha This first one I made for the Thank God It's Friday challenge and the theme was, much to my delight, "skulls"! yay! Here's a pic of my work space as I started working on my card using Timmeeees alcohol inks

and here is the finished card

I can't get enough of my white sharpie pen that Michelle was so very kind enough to send me!!! For some bizarre reason we can't buy them here in Canada so if any Canadians are reading this and you have found some here can you please, please let me know??? This sharpie pen is soooo amazing and I have used it in my scrapping, art journaling and as you see here ATC's. Thank you Michelle, I'm still on my first pen and am trying to use them sparingly! haha

This next challenge was for the Saturday Surprise and the theme was "parts of the body" so I used this stamp that I just love and once again embossed!

Next up was the Saturday's Workout and the theme was to "alter a photograph". Now, keeping in mind this is my first time doing this please be gentle with me. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this as I think I look slightly like one of those Japanese animine characters (did I say that right??) You know what I mean right? But, I had fun doing this art journal page and that's what art is all about right, trying new things so here you go

It's wierd because I'm kind of drawn to it, it's different and a little intriguing but perhaps slightly freaky as well. So, next up and the last project was for the Lots to Do challenge blog and the theme was "watercolor" so I used some watercolor paper and made this ATC with liquid watercolors and a new stamp that I hadn't used yet, and of course black embossing powder

So, lots of fun was had this weekend doing little challenges. Yesterday John and I went out and took our cardboard recycling in and went for a drive, it was such a beautiful day. Then last night I made a chicken stir fry with egg rolls and we had an awesome supper and watched Crank 2

I love Jason Statham's movies but I kind of thought that for this one they made it a little over the top. Maybe it was intentional but it was a little corny. Of course it never hurts when he takes his shirt off, so I give extra points for that, and all in all I gave this show a 7 out of 10.

I went to my LSS yesterday and came away with a bottle of Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist (see, I don't hold a grudge. I'm okay!) to add to my collection.

Well there you have it. Now I'm off to start my day as it looks like another beautiful one. Of course I have to spend part of it doing laundry and housework as the work week starts all too soon again tomorrow. Later dudes!

New T-shirt and projects!

TGIF!!! Woot! I am living for 4:30 today, bring on the weekend!! This is a new skull T I got last week

and I just noticed that the new theme for today over at TGIF is skulls, how fitting!! I'll have to work on something this weekend. Oh, new challenge site!! Hello! Just what I needed right?? The talent on this team is wicked and it's called Point Blank Period and I played along and made a page for my art journal. I also made this for my entry for the Wednesday Stamper as their theme this week was a "free theme" as long as you used stamps, which I did!

You have to check it out, super fun. Last night I pumped the jam and made 3 ATC's for some various challenges, the first one being Think Monday Think ATC and the theme was "architecture" so I used my new stamp, Glimmer Misted my background and voila

The next one is for the Crazy Amigos where the theme was "hats" so I made this, isn't he cute?

Last but not least is the Theme Thursday and the theme was "vintage women", I just love this pic of these ladies. Doesn't it look like they are all gussied up, have had some drinks and are ready to head into town and cause a little trouble?? haha

Today is the day they announce the new Tattered Angels DT but since I haven't heard anything I now know I am not on it. Sigh. I must have known this because I just placed an order for a bunch of Glimmer Mists half price a couple days ago. Well, I still love you Glimmer Mists but I guess we just weren't right for each other right now. I'm so corny I know!! Hey, you have to keep a sense of humour right?? Until then, keep creating and have a great weekend!!

September School Contest!!

I was quite excited when I saw what Sue from Magistical Memories had posted about this month's contest because I knew right away what I would do my layout on. Here is what Sue posted:

"When I think of September, I think of school buses, backpacks, friends and new shoes. Our September contest is all about scrapping school memories....YOUR school memories. Scrap a good memory, something not so good, whatever you want to document about your school experiences. It must include at least one piece of chipboard and/or acrylic. Upload into the contest gallery by September 30 to be entered. You can win FREE goodies from Magistical so get that school bus rollin'!"

I met my husband when I was in Grade 10 (I know!!) so my best times in high school pretty much mostly involved him. I had this picture that my mom had saved of us and it was taken while I was in Grade 12. I used the always fabulous "Potties in Love" and did alot of journaling so that I could look back on this and always remember (oh, and did you notice the Glimmer Misting???) hehe

I would love to see what some of your school memories are and they always have super fabulous chipboard prizes so quick, put your thinking cap on and come and play!!

What a way to start the day!

Thanks Ronni for letting me know that I won the challenge over at the One Little Word challenge blog!! This was one of my favorite layouts and I had so much fun making it. Let's hope the Tattered Angels people are as impressed shall we? haha
Thanks OLW ladies, this really made my day!! Here is my layout that they chose and I also win a fabulous prize!! Woohoo!

Well, yesterday was labour day so it was a day off and now it's back to the grind. Have a good day everyone!

Monday, September 7, 2009

What a great weekend!

The party was a good time, it was so nice to see the whole family together again! The meal was excellent (a turkey supper) and the drinks were flowing. Here's a pic of John and I at the party

and we even got the 5 generation picture that I was desparate to get!! Here it is with my Grama Hall, then my mom, then me, then Michael and Keegan

and my weekend was complete when I got smiles from Keegan

How awesome is that eh? Loooovveeeee it!! And as promised here is a pic of Paige's nose ring that I forgot to post before

I took so many great pictures this weekend I could go on forever! haha So, I played along with the Lotus Paperie challenge blog and the Scrap your Crap challenge blog, did double duty, and made this layout about Michael using, of course, Glimmer Mists and Magistical Memories chipboard

I had to document this because every time we ask Michael what he's doing, if he's having beers, he says "just chillin"! I also played along with Scrap Mojo and decided to make an art journal page for the challenge

My hands are now like claws and my shoulders are burning from doing some major picniking. Today is the last of my long weekend and I'm still in my jammies, just fartin around in my art room. Tonight we are going to make homemade pizza and I want to watch Intervention and that new show called "Hoarders". Oh my lord, it's about people who have all kinds of hoarding disfunctions, sooo disturbing!!! Tonight is about a 21 year old guy who hoards dog hair of all things! WTF??? Check it out here. I feel sorry for people who deal with addiction or have a family member dealing with addiction because I know it's not an easy thing.
