Best of 2009!!

I love when the end of the year comes and I can look back on all of my layouts and memories and These are a few of my favorite things challenge blog is to pick one, only one, layout as your favorite of 2009. Boy this was really, really hard. So after much thought I decided to pick this one because just looking at it makes me happy

Then because I didn't want to only showcase one of my favorites I decided to pick some others in no particular order

I had so much fun going through my layouts and remembering all of the moments. You probably noticed the recurring theme which is I love scrapping multi pic layouts!!!! I take so many pictures that it's the only feasible way for me to scrap. Very rarely do I scrap single or double pic layouts. I would have a house stacked to the roof with albums if I did that! haha I'm already scared of what the hell I'm going to do with all my shit once I'm old and God forbid in a old folks home!!! Yikes!!

Okay, there is a super fun New Year's Eve online cyber crop going on as I type over at Scrapbook Star and it is going on today and tomorrow! The prizes are fabulous and there are soooo many challenges!! Make sure you pop on over and check it out! Here is a layout I did for the #3 challenge which was to scrap your favorite picture.

This is my Grama holding my grandson, which would make her the Great, Great Grama!! I just love this pic and as soon as I saw it the title "The baby whisperer" came to mind because Keegan is almost listening intently to her. Love this!!!

Oh, I was bad and ordered this bag off Ebay and can hardly wait for it to arrive!!! I'm not telling the hubs though as he thinks I have more than enough purses, which I kind of do. But for any gal that has a shoe fetish or a bag fetish you know where I'm coming from. You are picking up what I'm laying down!!!

Sigh, Isn't she a beauty???? Let the good times roll!

I'm back!

And I survived Christmas! haha It was a busy time but the best part of it was that we were all together! This year Michael stayed over at our house and on Christmas Eve we just hung out, had a few drinks and listed to some music (not my idea of a perfect Christmas Eve but I was outnumbered!). Rather than post a whack of pics I made a photo collage using Picnik (love that Picnik!!)

Christmas morning everyone got up and opened their stockings and then we opened the presents. After that we were all pretty low key and pretty much took to our nests after the turkey was in the oven! Must have been the wild night before!

One of my favorite gifts was from John and the kids and it was a digital photo frame! It's a 12.1 inch frame and I downloaded 598 pictures on it today. The pamphlet says it can hold 6000!!! I'm in heaven!!! My ma and pa got us one too so I had to return it but I was really touched that they thought about it and knew what I would like. Here is a pic of it in the livingroom

and here is a pic of what I bought with the money from exchanging ma and pa's gift, something I have desperately needed as I don't own an iron, nor do I iron (which is probably pretty evident at times!!)

I can hardly wait to use it!! I should be able to just hang up my shirt or pants, whatever, and wave the magic wand and voila!!
Jessica and Keegan came over for Christmas supper and stayed the night and it was so nice to all be together. John and I were pretty tired so we went to bed earlier on and the kids stayed up and had some party hardy. That would have been ok but the next morning we were all getting up early to go Boxing Day shopping, which is a 40 min drive. But, after a 90 minute delay we hit the highway and experienced Boxing Day Hell. I thought I was going to lose my mind, either that or be charged with aggravated assault as the crowds were insane. I was happy that everyone else was having fun and shopping but really I could have done without it. I did score a 5 pack of 16 x 20 canvases from Michaels for $14.99 and a kick ass black zippered blazer that totally reminds me of the 80's. Sigh. I got that at Winners, where's there's always a winner at Winners! I'll try to post a pic soon. We came home around 6:30 that night and John and I took to our beds at 8:30 broken. I am also still sick with my sinus infection and had to go through walk in clinic hell today as my regular Dr. is closed this week. So, I am now armed with super strong antibiotics and Nasonex nose spray. I pray relief is in sight.

Ok, as my turkey pot pie bakes I will post a looky-lu at the fabulous "Holiday Hangover" kit from Scrap-tastic.

Yummy eh? Here are some of my projects I made using this fabulous kit:

and this is a page I made for my art journal

Well, that's it for now folks so I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families!

Twas the night before Christmas...

and I can hardly wait to get home from work today!! Woot!

I have to work until 3:00 and then I will be off work for 10 glorious days!! I am super pumped for this!! Tonight we are going to have some ordervees, a few drinks and maybe play the Wii. I'm really looking forward to Christmas, just being able to sleep in, relax and have no plans.

I got a lovely Christmas card in the mail and I am not sure who it came from. I feel stupid but I know that I am on a couple new design teams and am still slowly getting to know names and people so Sharon Wilcox, if you are reading this, step right up and let me thank you for that lovely card! I feel really foolish but I really want to say thank you for sending me that lovely card.

I am slowly getting caught up, and the keyword here is "slowly", on my pictures from the summer. Here is a layout I made documenting our 21st anniversary this past August. I framed the pictures with some acetate embellies from K & Company and some chipboard goodness and then used my new Candlelight Glimmer Mist from
Scrapbook Star( The prices are amazing!!!)

I am such a spaz, I journaled that it was our 20th anniversary but it was really our 21st! I was able to fix it without being noticeable thank goodness but haven't taken a new pic yet.

I also wanted a page for my art journal and these tags from Angie Delarie were perfect for documenting the new diamond ring!

My new Slice Words & Expressions design card came yesterday and I looovveeee it!! Here are all the words it can pump out

and here are some that I cut out. Heavenly.

I still love my Slice. Big time. Yesterday my copy of the October 2009 Scrapbook Trends came and I'm on page 28! They sent me an amazing box of goodies as well that I can hardly wait to play with!!

Well, I'm off to work now and hope that the day goes by quickly. Have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the time with your families and loved ones. Stay safe, warm and happy and I'll see you after Christmas!

I'm almost ready!!!

For Christmas that is! Yesterday I did my running around and got some things that I had forgotten to get, baked my Shortbreak cookies and made the Mexican Cheese Dip. Today John and I are making cabbage rolls!! My wrapping is done and once I clean the house I think I am safe to say bring it on! haha

I had fun scrapping a couple layouts this weekend "just cause" and it was great. I am a little behind and have finished July and now am on August! haha I know that there are alot of people that are probably like "so, I'm years behind!" but I like to stay fairly caught up or it gets overwhelming to me! Of course sometimes it doesn't take much to overwhelm me. Here's a layout I did summing up July

You all know how much I love multi pic layouts and when you have a whack of pics
that you don't know what to do with this is perfect. I love seeing a month at a glance and it's a good way to use up those pictures! I have 12 pictures on this layout, 12!!!

This next layout was very close to my heart as it was about my Grampa's passing this past July. He passed away on my DD's birthday which was very difficult for everyone. It's hard to make a birthday special when you have this happen but we tried our best. I felt sorry for Paige because she turned 15 and you remember what it's like when you're that age and it's your special day. She was a trooper though and handled it very well. My Grampa was so full of life and so much fun. Even when he went totally blind it didn't affect his zest for life and you could hear him singing and whistling and laughing. Then when he got Alzheimers he was still fun and still loved to entertain everyone with his songs and loved to have his family around him having a good time and laughing. I put the crown on his head as he truly was the "fun king". I miss you Grampa.

Last night we watched "Star Trek" the movie and it was soooooo fantastic!!! It was totally a 9 out of 10, even John said it was one of the better ones he had seen in a while. I wasn't sure how it would be but let me tell you it starts out with a bang and just keeps going. I'm hoping they are going to have a part 2. Of course the young Captain Kirk is easy on the eyes which was super nice.

I finally took a pic of my tree at night

and here are some pics from the weekend, the first being me driving yesterday

and then my little man stayed over too!

How about you, how was your weekend? Are you ready for Christmas?

I hate Murphy and all his laws

You know how I always talk about that damn big black cloud that likes to hover over me? Well today I went to the Doctor because I was getting sick (of course I was, Christmas is coming, duh!) and had a wicked sore throat, I cough up foul tasting phlegm and this morning when I was brushing my teeth horked up yellow/green phlegm tinged with blood. Sorry, should have had my graphic warning on this post! Anyways, John has had this for 2 weeks now and has now infected me so I went to the Doctor and she thinks it's a sinus infection, which it does feel like as my ears were starting to hurt today and my head was feeling heavy (I've battled many a sinus infection in my life) and my teeth a little tender. So now I'm on antibiotics and am hoping to nip this shit in the bud in the next few days. I can't afford to be sick as I have alot of stuff to do!!

Tommorrow I am getting the mother lode of groceries and am baking my shortbreak cookies. I got my wrapping done today thank goodness as that was a job in itself.

I made a few ATC's, this one is for the Wednesday Stamper where the theme was "blue and white". I took the picture from one of the Goo Goo Dolls CD's and made this:

These next 2 were for the Theme Thursday blog where the theme was "legs".

Last but not least I made this just because.

Now I have to give a disclaimer (and not only because I know one of my bosses reads this, Hi Kathy!) because I do love alot of things about my job. I love the money, the benefits and the people I work with but I do not love sitting in that cubicle all day doing data entry. It's mind numbing and soul crushing. There is no other way to sugercoat it. Period. Thus the card.

Tonight we all watched "The Ugly Truth" and I thought it was good. I gave it an 8 out of 10 (Gerard Butler is easy on the eyes too!)

Well that's it, I better get to bed soon as I have a busy day tomorrow. Later dudes!

Midweek rah rah

I have one more day to work and then I have a 3 day weekend!!! woohoo! The weather was alot warmer today and it's now only minus 2. Only in Saskatchewan can you have a minus 28 that feels like minus 44 with the windchill one day, and then a minus 2, which feels totally balmy, the next day. Go figure. Why do I live here again??

I finally played along again with the Created by Hand challenge blog and the theme was "vintage". It seems like it's been so long since I have been able to play along with some of my fave challenge blogs so I was in heaven (hey, it's about the small things remember?) I made this ATC for my creation

The last prompt is up for the
A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and it was this:

What is a perfect ending to you? Does your story end happily ever after? How do you love to end a good day? Do you have a memory of an ending that was perfect for you? Zip it up!! Tell us how your story ends...

So, I thought about it and at the end of every day I love to go home and put on my pjamas. I know, I'm a dork. But man it's cozy. So I made this art journal page to document my dorky routine

Stay tuned for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal in the new year because it will be starting all over again but with prompts on the 15th and 30th of every month!

How about you, do you love getting into your flannels at the end of the day?

Time to roll in the gutter!!

The new Gutter Girlz prompt #32 is now up! Go and check it out and play along with us!! Here is my take on it using the always fabulous chipboard smiley face, potty people & frame by Magistical Memories and the cute little girl tag by Angie Delarie

I love how this turned out and it's so true. I really can't complain (ok, so sometimes I do but that's human nature right?) because compared to alot of other people I have it very good. I have a family, a good job, my health, food on the table and so much more. I still have my times when things suck or I go through bad times but in the big scheme of things life is good.

I wanted to share this email that was going around at work, it's sooo funny!!!

This is hilarious!!!!!

This is an actual letter from an Austin, TX woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. She really gets rolling after the first paragraph. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the Leak Guard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favourite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'... Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behaviour. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... This brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong',

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep. Always.

Is that not freakin hilarious??? Love it.

It's a deep freeze

Wow, today with the wind chill it is minus 43!!! Yikes! It's not fit for man nor beast. But I am now parking in our attached garage, thanks to John, and let me tell you it is heaven!!! Now when I go to work I go from a warm house into a warm car. It makes a huge difference.

Here are 2 sneek peeks of my projects from the Scrapbook Star January kit. I just loved playing with this color combo!!

Come on, I would love to see you come on over there and play with us!!

Thursday night we had our office Christmas party and went out for supper and then hit the bar for some drinks. We had a good time and I tripped the light fantastic until around midnight. I was sooo tired yesterday and am glad the weekend is here! At the bar we even had a big drunken lady tell us it was against the law to take pictures in a bar and one of us said "oh, are you a lawyer?" and she said yes. For the rest of the night we could see her getting more agitated and even giving us the finger which made us laugh even harder and take more pictures. We even got a picture of the group of us (these are the awesome ladies I work with everyday minus a few that didn't toddle out with us) and you can see her in the background (check it out!)

I was kind enough to disguise her because the way she was carrying on you would swear she was in the witness protection program!! Also, she couldn't have looked any less like a lawyer. She was a cross between a homeless person and a mental health patient. Yikes. But it has given us endless fodder and amusement and just added to the evening. So thanks crazy lady!!

Here is one of my favorite pics of my best friend Gay and I taken that night. I am so lucky to have her as my friend, she just gets me.

Today I took my Grama out for lunch and then did some Christmas shopping. The crowds were insane! I am 90% done though and just have to get a few last minute things when I get my groceries next Friday. I still have to wrap and get organized but I'm feeling mighty good about it all!

Tonight John and I watched the movie "The Hangover"

and it's a total 9.5 out of 10!!! This was movie was freakin hilarious!!!! I laughed and laughed and laughed, it was awesome!! Have you seen it?

Manic Monday

I hate Mondays, especially the ones where I don't get the Friday off. It just seems like a really long week. I don't think the weather is helping either when you have to wake up to minus 28 and get into a freezing car to drive to work. Ugh.

My pal Linda from ATC the music asked me to make an ATC for the Goo Goo Dolls song "Name", which is one of my all time faves. There is a line in the song that goes "did you lose yourself somewhere out there, did you get to be a star?" that always reminds me of Marilyn Monroe so this is what I made

Thanks Linda for requesting this because I had a dry spell with ATC's and it felt soooo good to make it. And to listen to Johnny sing "Name" and imagine he was singing it just to me. All alone, in a dim lit room, the scent of candles...ok, ok, I'm getting carried away here now! Can you blame me?? haha

The next project was an art journal page for the
A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and the theme was "wish". And this is my wish

Have a good night and stay warm!

Lazy Sundays

are the best! I got all my Christmas decorating done yesterday and feel so good about that! Here are a couple pics

I am going to take more this week when it's night time because that's when they look the best, when the lights are all twinkling.

I finally got some time to play along with a couple challenges and the first one was the Think Monday Think ATC and the theme was "dream" so I made this

It's so hot isn't it? I call it "Sexy dream" because it's got the whole beauty and the beast thing going on don't you think? Yeah.

The next challenge was for the Scrap that poetry and the poem was "The road not taken" by Robert Frost. I had this picture of myself that I had taken when I was driving in Calgary and I thought it would be perfect for this art journal page.

Also, here is one of my projects using the Magistical Memories Danity Damask. I love this red and purple color combo

Last night John and I played the Wii again and I thought I would hate the golf game (he loves it!) but I don't! I decided to try it out because he really wanted me to play and I found out that I love it! I'm glad I gave it a try. We also played bowling which was super fun. This next game here I'm hooked on, it is soooo cool.

This next one I think will be good if I can figure out how to get out of the damn courtyard which is the very start of the game!! haha

How about you, do you Wii and if so what are your fave games?
