What a good weekend!!

I love it when a weekend comes along and it was just good. Maybe nothing spectacular happened, nothing extraordinary but it was just a really good weekend. Last night John and I watched the movie "Kick Ass" and I loved it. I totally gave it an 8 out of 10.

I played along with The Color Room and once again love how it pushes me to use colors I wouldn't normally use!! I also love using the sketches. Here is the palette

and here is my layout

I also finished my art journal page for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and the word was "symbolic" so I did a page on how I feel about tattoos. I only have 2 but I have never regretted them and I love them and those aren't mine in the journal page. I have a unicorn on my right ankle and a tribal rose on my left shoulder.

I had my little grandson yesterday for a few hours and took him for a stroller walk as it was such a beautiful day.

I had forgotten just how exhausting it was to look after a toddler!! He was a year last month and is very, very, very, very busy!! When I dropped him off back home I had a sore back and today my arms are sore from lifting him so much! haha I guess I'm officially old! haha It didn't help that he kept wanting to climb our stairs which put me on red alert!

I finally snapped that pic of Paige so I would have a picture of her starting
Grade 11. She wasn't thrilled to pose for it but I got it, that's the main thing!

and here is a pic of me in my art room

I'm going to leave you with this video that I love from Eminem and Rhianna

I loooveee this song and could listen to it over and over. How gorgeous is Meagan Fox???

Photo Books Rock - free coupon codes!!!

I can't believe I almost forgot to post this! I discovered the world of photo books (I know, where have I been right??) and looovveee them!! I ordered one from Shutterfly which I still haven't gotten yet as well as from Picaboo and Blurb. Here is a code that is good for one free 20 page book from Blurb and it's only good until August 31, 2010 so get crackin! The code is "BLOG2010" and if you are from Canada you have to pick to pay in US funds and then it will apply the code. You only have to pay the shipping which was only $8 or $10, can't remember as I've done a few of these!

Here is a link for a free book from Picaboo (I love these books, they have a glossy laminated hardcover and are just gorgeous, my fave so far) and this code is good for new users only (but hey, remember you can use a different email addy too. I did one for my work and one under John's name as well!!) and I think it's good until December 31, 2010. Once you give your email addy they send you the coupon code and again all you pay is the shipping.

Here are a few of the books I got (the 2 big glossy ones are Picaboo and the smaller one is from Blurb)

I just ordered another one so I could have another book of my artwork. I looovveeee these books!! Let me know if you have any of these photo books and what you think of them or if you know of any more free coupon code dealios!!

Where does the time go???

Paige has now started Grade 11, I just can't believe how fast time is going. If I could get her to stand still long enough to take a picture of her I would be happy! haha I'll have to work on it this weekend.

I got my copy of the new Fall 2010 Canadian Scrapbooker and I'm on page 51! I had fun making this layout and I still get a thrill of seeing my work in print. I used to wonder if after having alot of layouts pubbed I might not get as excited or thrilled but nope, I still do.

I joined a new swap over at ATC's for all and it was called "Hooray for boobies". Now I just couldn't pass this one up and decided that this would be perfect practice for my trying to learn how to draw the female form. So here are the cards I made for the swap:

and because I was on a booby roll I made these 2 just cause

Now don't ask me where I get the names from. I just pick them to sometimes match a word in the title. I don't mean to offend any Pattys out there!! Seriously! haha I can hardly wait to see what fabulous boobies I'm going to get in return!!

I've been sucked into the HBO series called "Hung" and am all caught up now and can hardly wait for the new episode.

I live for True Blood and Hung. What can I say??

I played along this week with the Mixed Media Monday challenge blog where the them was "seeing red" as well as the Crazy Amigo challenge blog where the theme was "coca cola" and combined the two challenges to make this ATC

This is proof that it pays to hoard scrappy supplies! If I wouldn't have bought this coca-cola patterned paper years ago I wouldn't have been able to do this challenge! hahahaha The rationalization of a delusional mind? I'll let you decide.

Ok, here is one of my favorite times of the month, the time when the new Scrap-Tastic kits are revealed and I get to show my projects that I made using the kit!! This new one is nothing short of fabulous (as usual) and is called "Flay Away". Here is the pic

and here are 4 layouts I made using this fabulous kit

and here is an art journal page I made using the kit

and a couple ATC's

This kit was gorgeous!! I loved the Timmeeee mask and glimmer mist and gorgeous chipboard pieces and papers. Love.

I almost forgot to post a pic of John and I from Terri's birthday party last weekend

Work totally kicked my ass this week so I wasn't able to blog, thus the looonngggg post....

Happy 22nd anniversary to us!!

Yesterday was our 22nd wedding anniversary and I got some beautiful roses from John.

He said I looked as good now as I did 22 years ago. Melt. I told him I would do it all over again if I could.

We had beers on the deck and just relaxed and then watched "Clash of the Titans" which was awesome!

I played in my art room today and did the newest color challenge from The Color Room and this is the palette

I never would have put these colors together if it wasn't for this challenge blog so thank you ladies!!! Here is my layout and I love how it turned out!

I used the Heidi Swapp invisibles paper and then used paint and Glimmer Mists to get my colors for the palette. Love it!!!

I have to go get ready now as we have a birthday party to go to tonight so it should be a fun time!!! Have a great night!

Hi ho, Hi ho, it's back to work I go...

So yesterday was my first day back to work, ugghh. It was soooo busy but at least the day went by quickly. I tell you it was so nice to have 3 weeks off in a row, very relaxing.

I actually got some layouts done while I was off after having a little hiatus from them. Here a few I did just because I was behind and had sooo many pics to scrap!

and last but not least

It felt so good to get these done because they were all pictures from April and May. I am a huge fan of multi pic layouts especially when they can get the job done in alot less time! haha

The new ATC challenge was posted just the other day over at Simply Artistic and I got my card done right away as inspiration hit me and it all came together. I drew the tree and checkered background and then colored with watercolor pencils and markers and then used pattered paper for the sky and an image from the net.

I love this card. I am having alot of fun with this theme even though I'm not really an Alice in Wonderland fan (have I shocked you all now? haha) I never have been but I can still be inspired from it so it's all good. We were assigned our partners yesterday and I have a gorgeous card coming to me from the swap!! Now I have to work on my art journal page. Have a great day!

I love the summer time!!!

There is nothing better than having 3 weeks off in the summer. Seriously. I have been sleeping in, drinking lots of beer (Betty Ford here I come!), eating and generally just being a bum. I finished watching episode 31 of True Blood this morning while I had my coffee and OMG!!!! WTH??? I can hardly wait for #32 now!!! I am obsessed with this show.

A friend of mine came into town and we went out and about on the town and had a great time, I can't remember laughing this hard in a long time. We seriously were killing ourselves!! Here is Terry and I

and here is us after a few! We had such a good time!

and here is a rare picture of my clean art desk, well as clean as it's going to get anyways!

Now that it's so clean I'm itching to make something!! I think I'm going to work on a layout as I ordered 4 months of pictures and have alot of catching up to do. I've been on a bit of an ATC binge lately from all of the swaps I've been joining. This next batch of cards is from a "Demon Seed" swap where you had to do cards of evil children. I must say I really enjoyed this one! haha I'm warped I know. Here is the first card called "brains and peas"

and "girl guide cookies"

and "cut out her heart"

and "Henry"

and "Killer"

and last but not least "the kids weren't happy"

Hope I didn't give you all nightmares! haha I have also joined a "Hooray for boobies" and a "Personal paradise" swap and need to start making my cards for those soon.

I did get one layout done this past week and I love how it turned out. I used lots of yummy 7 Gypsies stuff on this including their new paper tape!

Well, since I have a clean desk I better take advantage of it!

I'm back in!!!!

I just found out that I can watch season 3 of True Blood on our movie central HBO on demand channel on SaskTel!!! woohoo!!! My sister discovered it and it was like a miracle!! I just finished watching episode #29 today and man is it getting crazy!!!! And here I was thinking I would have to wait for it to come out on rental. I love this show!!! Here's a neat movie video of Snoop Dog paying homage to Sookie, love it:

How cool is that right? I also joined an ATC swap over at ATC's for all about True Blood and here are my cards for the swap:

I finished my art journal page for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and the word was "Dream". I am trying to learn how to draw and do watercolor painting so my dream is to get good at it.

I wasn't happy with this landscape because before I put the title and journaling onto it I thought it looked like a kindegartner did it. Sigh. But, it's all about the learning and the process so hopefully one day I'll look back and see how far I've come.

Another fabulous ATC blog I came across is called Simply Artistic and it looks fabulous! Make sure you read all about how the blog works because at first I just thought you make an ATC but you have to make the ATC and then it gets traded so I made sure to make an extra one for myself. Here is my card:

I did the background using alcohol inks and then stamped the trees and added the collage image of the woman. I love how this turned out.

I have also been busy joining ATC swaps over at ATC's for all and these are my cards for the "Angels among us" swap:

This is my last weeek of holidays so I have to make everyday count!! I have been really enjoying my time off, just being a lazy bum!! Tonight I am going out with a friend who has come to town and we plan on having some drinks and fun. Hope you are enjoying your summer!!
