The reveal....

I'm going to reveal the layouts and 2 of the ATC's I made using the gorgeous May Decadent Dreams kit from Scrap-Tastic. Of course I may or may not be a little biased on this kit as I helped to design it and name it!! Talk about fun! It was like shopping without having to spend your own money, just putting gorgeous things in a cart and knowing you will get to play with them!!!

I had alot of fun designing it and playing with it and hope you enjoy these projects.

and then here are the ATC's

Last night John and I watched The Blind Side and it was sooooo good!!!!

I gave it a 9.5 out of 10 because it was so touching, so heart warming, to know that there really are people out there that would care enough about another human being to open up their home to them. And the fact that this is a true story made it even better. She changed that young man's life, if it weren't for her who knows what would have happened to him? I can't say enough how much I loved this film. It gave me hope that maybe things will be ok in this world.

We also took the boys for a walk on the walking trail yesterday and it was another beautiful day.

Prompt #7 over at the A year in the life of an art journal was the word "move" which is quite fitting for me right now as we have our house up for sale and are waiting to MOVE. Here is my art journal page:

Today we went to a bunch of public open houses again and it was really interesting to see the houses that are up for sale. It made us feel confident in our asking price that's for sure. There was one house we went into and I swear it was like walking into a huge ashtray. These people must have been chronic non-stop smokers. Even John, who is a smoker, said the smell was hard to take so that's saying something!!! It's neat to see how other people live and decorate and there were a variety of tastes out there. Most were up to date and done up really nice and a couple others hadn't seen an upgrade or redecorating since the 70's!! Seriously!

My Smartie McFlurry was the end of the day treat as we hit the drive thru at McDonalds and just came to relax.

John is napping now and I'm in my art room. Life is good.

Groundhog day

And when I say that I don't mean it literally, I mean remember that show when everyday when he woke up everything was the same all over again? That's how I've been feeling lately. I got a call from the realtor this morning while I was at work and he said he had another realtor that wanted to show the house at 5:15 (um, what part of evenings and weekends don't people get?) so I said I wouldn't even get home until 5:45 so it would have to be at least 7:00). So I went home and raced around the house cleaning like a mad woman, had a bite to eat and then as John and I were catching our breath sitting down the doorbell rang at 6:40 and it was the realtor. Sigh. So we harnied up the dogs and took them for a walk on the trail which was nice because it was a beautiful evening!!! And, on the plus side, my laundry is now done and the house is now clean. Groundhog Day.

Here are a bunch of sneak peeks for the amazing
Scrap-Tastic May Decadent Dreams kit that I helped to design!!! Eeek!! I know, this is my first time helping to design a kit and I had so much fun doing so and even more fun making my projects with it. If you are a Prima fan then you will LOVE this kit.

So there you have it!! I can hardly wait to reveal my projects which should be late this weekend or early next week!

I have a 3 day weekend coming up and can hardly wait. I'm going to do my hoarding on Friday so that I'll have the weekend free to do some fun stuff. I'm hoping to get John to take me for a drive so I can get a Smartie McFlurry from McDonalds and eat it while he drives. That is such a treat for me. I would also love to walk the dogs more this weekend and watch a couple movies. Hey, did anyone watch Glee last night? It was soooo awesome!! It was Madonna night and I found myself singing along and knowing ALL the words to the songs. I love me my Madonna!!!! Here's a clip:

I just love that Sue, she kills me!!!!!

Curses foiled again!!

Just when I think I can sleep in and enjoy my Saturday we get a call from our realtor saying he has a showing at 9:30 am! *$&#_%_#$
This will only be our 3rd showing and already I'm pretty damn sick of them. Let's hope this house sells pretty damn fast. Sigh. So, needless to say we have to get up at 6:30 am (keep in mind it's SATURDAY) and clean the house, shower and leave the house by 9:15 with the dogs. Shit.

Ok, enough bitching and moaning, onto some fun stuff. The monthly online crop is on over at Scrapbook Star and the theme this month is "Earth day" so my challenge was to "recycle!". Use something "non scrappy" on your project. I made this layout using a tag from a piece of clothing I had bought (the one that says "one tuff babe"). Oh, and notice the Slice shapes? I'm still loving my Slice baby!!!!

The new Gutter Girlz prompt is also up and here it is:

THE PROMPT: It's No Secret

THE SONG: Everybody Knows by Concrete Blonde

THE PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: None this month

I did a layout on how much I love my parents and used the Magistical Memories chipboard butterfly

Tonight John and I watched the show "Brothers"

and I thought it was so good. I gave it an 8 out of 10. It was full of emotion and really made you feel (I teared up quite a few times!) and Tobey Maguire's performance was simply amazing.

Well, I'm going to finish my last beer and hit the hay because after I get up super early to scrub and clean for the $&^#)#* showing I also have to pick my Grama up at 11 for breakfast, which I always look forward to! How about you, do you get to sleep in? Let me live vicariously through you!!! haha

The Party's Over

I had 10 glorious days off during the Easter break but now the party's over and I go back to work tomorrow. I suppose that's good in a way, at least for my liver! haha I did spend alot of time getting our house ready for sale by cleaning and de-cluttering but I also did have some very lovely crafty time.

The realtor was over yesterday and we signed the papers so we are officially listed. Let the calls begin!! This is the part I hate, having to keep it showcase clean all of the time. We did say that we needed to be called ahead of time and showings are only evenings and weekends because of our dogs, so at least I'll have some notice to do any last minute fluffing.

Here are a few pics of our house:

I will miss the house, especially the big pantry and walk in closet but it's time that we get something smaller because soon enough it will be just John and I rattling around in this big old house! haha We want a bungalow and he wants to have a big shop in the back. I'm not as particular as long as I have another art room (bigger this time) and my granite counters. Yes I'm spoiled! haha

They had the best challenge over at These are a few of my favorite things and it was what's your favorite tv show. Well, I couldn't pick just one so I did on my fave 6!

I also played along with Category Stories where the theme was "my world" and the Lots to do challenge blog where the theme was "embossing" so I embossed my Tim Holtz letters on this layout

Then I posted the "Glenda's Saturday Surprise" over at Scrapbook Star and the challenge was to scrap about your pet so I did this layout on my beloved Skyler

Isn't he the cutest??? I'll be doing one on Sam in the near future as well. The last layout I have to share (bet you can tell I didn't spend the whole 10 days off house cleaning eh?) is this one of Paige and her BFF. I just love when they take my camera and do a photoshoot, probably because that's one of the only times where I can get some pictures of them!

Today John and I are going to hit up a few open houses today and just see what other people have for sale and then kick back. Looking forward to Desperate Housewives tonight, hopefully it's not another repeat! Have a great day!

Cleaning frenzy

So we are putting our house up for sale because we want to build something smaller like a bungalow, something we can retire in instead of this big two storey house. Don't get me wrong, I love the house and it has all kinds of room but after this week's cleaning frenzy I will be glad to get back to having only 2 levels to clean.

Last night John and I went to Safeway to rent a Rug Doctor to do the basement and the stairs. FYI: never rent a Rug Doctor shampoo system. Last night John was in bed early and I was drinking beer over the trauma of it all. We needed a Dr. ourselves after renting that piece of shit from Safeway! We brought it home to do Paige's room, the basement and the stairs and it didn't do a damn thing except soak the carpet. After Paige's room we knew it was shit so we took it back and got our money back but we were both broken after that! John went and borrowed his Dad's old skool Electrolux rug shampooer and it's doing a much better job.

I finally did some layouts on Christmas (hey, it's only April right?) and I don't know about you but when it comes to scrapping Christmas I just always want to get it over with. I don't find them as fun as other layouts so I just glom on a bunch of photos and call it a day. This is my fave out of the bunch though

Exciting news over at Magistical Memories

and speaking of Magistical Memories here is a layout I did using their chipboard Fleur de Lis

And some other super exciting news is that I received my copy of the new Spring 2010 Somerset Memories and I have 5 layouts in it plus an art journal page!!!

I have layouts on page 36, 46, 48 and 49 plus an art journal page on page 83!! I love this magazine so much! The photography of the artwork is always beautiful and the art itself is so inspiring and creative. It's alot more artistic and cutting edge than alot of the cookie cutter stuff you see in Creating Keepsakes.

Well, I had better get my butt in gear and get this house cleaned. I'll try to post some pics later in the week after it's all clean.

Happy Easter!!

It has been a great weekend so far!! We got caught up on watching a few movies so here is my movie review:

The Hurt Locker - John didn't care for this and I was surprised because I thought it was kind of a guy show. It was interesting and I gave it a 7 out of 10.

Precious - I watched this by myself while having my morning coffee and it was soooo sad but at the time uplifing as it showed you can never give up hope. I thought the acting was amazing, especially the woman who played Precious's mom, and it really made me think that this really happens to some girls out there in the world which is just so, so sad. I gave this an 8 out of 10. Last but not least

The Box - which was just kind of wierd. Not what I was expecting and the end got me going "huh???". I gave it a 6 out of 10 and I wasn't crazy about Cameron Diaz's southern accent.

Now for some Magistical Memories sketch fun!! You have until April 30th to load your layout into the sketch gallery!

Here is my art journal page for the "soar" prompt over at the
A Year In The Life Of An Art Journal. The technqiue was to reverse out an image and I used oil pastels just like Nikki did and was so happy she inspired me to use them!!! That's what I love about playing along, you learn new things all the time and new techniques.

Yesterday John and I took the boys for a walk on the walking trail and it was the most beautiful day. The birds were singing, there was a slight warm breeze and it wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold. It was lovely. Here is a collage of our walk:

Before we took the boys for a walk we made a huge batch of cabbage rolls in a turkey roaster for today's Easter feast. We love cabbage rolls and make a pretty good team making them.

Today I spent some time cleaning up the house, washing floors, etc.. and then started getting the Easter feast ready! We had ham in the slow cooker which was amazing!! I used a Kraft recipe but tweaked it slightly. I put a 4 1/2 pound fully cooked boneless ham in the slow cooker and then covered it with a fruit puree made from a can of sliced pineapple, a can of fruit cocktail, 2 tbs. of vinegar and a jalepeno pepper. I put all of this into the blender and blended it and then poured it over the ham. The ham cooked on low for 8 hours and was it ever yummy!!! It fell apart it was so tender and the sauce was sweet with a little heat. It was a hit and John said he really liked it too. We also had cabbage rolls, perogies with onions, scalloped potatoes and corn. Man it was good. Here is a collage of our supper

I had bought Keegan a new toy for Easter and he liked it. He is totally crawling to beat the band now and he kept wanting to go towards the basement stairs. What is it with babies and stairs??

Well, I'm beat and the house is quiet now so I might try to make something. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!
