New Scrap-Tastic Kit is in da house!!!

The new Scrap-Tastic kit is now available and it's called "Blushing Sunset". Here it is in all it's blushing beauty:

And here are a couple layouts I made with the kit. This first one is one of my many annual birthday layouts that I like to do with numbers on my forehead. I'm wierd that way I know. Isn't that floral paper gorgeous???

and this one was because I had a few sweet pictures of my loves

Then I also made a couple ATC's like I always do. This one was a serious one

and I got the little easel from the dollar store, isn't it the cutest little thing to display an ATC on??? This next one is a funny one because I love a good funny card and because I have an awesome collection of Viva Las Vegas stamps that beg to be used!!!

My last project was a page for my art journal and I just love how it turned out

I joined a swap over at ATCs for all and it was a hard swap for me! The technique was to paint over found images and change them. Now you would think this would be easy right??? Wrong. I messed up the people's faces and they look kind of anime (is that the right word??) Anyhoo, here are my 3 cards for this swap (it's ok, you can laugh!)

and this one I think the dude's face is pretty freaky and the chick looks a little like a hooker or a tranny! haha

but this one is my favorite

The woman that was hosting the swap was giving a class and I think I should have signed up, paid the money and taken it!! There is a definite technique to this as I know now!! haha But I love to try new things so it's all good.

Yesterday I joined a fitness class that is twice a week called Insanity and man was it INSANE!!! Here is a little taste of how I punished my body yesterday and why I am slightly crippled today:

Holy shit right? Right. I go Monday's and Wednesday's but ideally the program is meant to be taken 6 days a week! Can you believe it? I'd be in a wheelchair! haha But I look at it as 2 extra workouts that are very intense and that are also in addition to my other workouts I do so it's all good. I will say that it is the hardest and most intense workout I've ever done. It was like military or marine grade.Unreal. Thank God I go for a massage tomorrow because my calves are so tight!!!

Have you ever heard of it or tried it?

TGIF!

It's Friday and it's my day off!! I'm in my art room making some art and then I have to get showered and leave the house to do some errands. I almost forgot to post my Color Room project and I see they have a new one up today! Here was last week's palette

and here was my take on it. I just love this picture of John and the boys sitting on our front porch.

Rarely do I scrap with only one picture unless it's a very special picture that I love and this was one of them! That's all I have for today so happy Friday!!

Lazy Sunday

Today I slept in until 10:00 am and it was decadent!! Then I got up, put the coffee on and made a full bacon & eggs breaky with hashbrowns & green onions and toast. It was soooo good!! What made it even better was that my TV FINALLY loaded with the new episodes of Hung and True Blood!!! I watched them while I had my breakfast and coffee and all I can say about True Blood is OMG!!!!! I cannot wait until season 4!!!! Holy crap!!

After my shows I did some laundry and then went to my art room as John is working on his Bobcat in his garage. I finished my card for the
Simply Artistic challenge again and the theme was "gothic Queen" so I made this beauty

I just love how this turned out and this challenge was right up my alley. I love making goth ATC's which is funny because I am totally the opposite of goth!! haha

I also finished my art journal page for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and the prompt was "childhood". I had this cute picture of me as a little girl and thought it would be perfect for this prompt. I haven't done many art journal pages with childhood pictures so I loved this prompt!

Yesterday John and I took the boys out for a walk on the walking trail and I got this cute pic of them, don't they look happy?

And remember the birds that made their nest to the left of our front door? Well they raised one family and then the mother laid eggs AGAIN and here is our 2nd family of birds, ready to leave the nest (they left last week but sometimes they come back)

How cute are they???

Seriously cute!!!
And here I am just having a little self portrait fun (I'm wearing my True Blood t-shirt!!)

and me in my art room

Well that's all I got today. I'm making chicken for supper and am looking forward to a 4 day work week this week!! yay!! Also Desperate Housewives premieres tonight and I'll be sucked into that for sure. Have a great Sunday!!

Fabulous Friday!

I had to work today but right after work I ran out to Walmart to take part in their anniversary sale. I got caught up in the frenzy of it all and managed to blow $119 on cleaners, kleenex, grocery items, vitamins, chocolate, gum, soup, a Playskool Sit and Spin for Keegan (I can hardly wait to give that to him!!) and a set of new sheets for Paige (made of 100% brushed cotton t-shirt material in a funky magenta color with geometric designs on it) and other crap. I honestly couldn't believe the total and this was after I gave the check out dude $7.00 in coupons (I am a coupon clipping addict!!). Here are some fabulous Canadian coupon sites: Live well save well and think coupons and Brandsaver and save.ca. I have gotten so many fabulous coupons as well as free shit!! Like right now 18 pads FREE! Joint care dog treats FREE! Box of granola bars FREE! Check these out if you love to shop and save!!

When I got home I cracked a beer and told John that I got totally sucked in to the frenzy of it all as he was making supper (thank God he was making a wonderful supper as I was just beat!) and just came down from the high of it all. I am a freak I know. Have you ever gotten totally sucked in to a sale and spent waaaaay more than you should have or were expecting to??

We ate his wonderful supper (chicken swiss, homemade rice and potato skins) and watched the movie Killers

I loved the movie and gave it an 7.5 out of 10. It was funny and Ashton was very easy on the eyes. Sigh. Here's a little hot guy Friday for you featuring Ashton

You know you like it. Nice right?? Yeah. Demi is a lucky lady.

Ok, let's talk about art now, I played along for the 1st time ever with a challenge blog called Page Maps and this was their sketch

and this was my layout

I love how cheerful and summery this looks and was happy I had this paper by My Minds Eye to play with!!

Now because I've been on a total sketch craze lately I played along again with Pencil Lines and this was their sketch

and this was my layout

I had some more pictures of Paige escorting Emerald to his grad and wanted to do a multi pic layout of the event so this sketch was perfect for it! I had to use Prima paper again as it just went so well with the romantic-ness (is that even a word) of it all.

One last layout I have is of my little sweet pea and I used a variety of the new Basic Grey papers from Scrapbook Star, how cute are they?? And how cute is my little sweet pea???

Well that's all I have for now, I'm in my art room and hoping to finish an art journal page before I hit the hay. What are you working on right now?

Sunny Sunday

The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day. There is a little wind but hey I'll take it, it's better than snow or rain. Yesterday we took the dogs for 2 walks and the were so happy. The last walk wasn't planned but our realtor called and he said he had someone who wanted to see the house on short notice (I was right in the middle of making supper) so I covered up supper and off went to walk the dogs. I don't think they stayed long which was disappointing and it kind of pissed me off because it tainted our supper. Bastards. Ok, I guess I shouldn't say that, what if they did like it and now I'm messing with karma or something... my chicken was totally dried out though. Sigh.

Anyways, thinking on a more positive note I played along for the first time ever over at Pencil Lines Sketches and had a blast making this layout. Here is their sketch:

And here is my take on it. This picture is of Paige and her boyfriend and it was taken on his grad night and Paige was his grad escort:

I wanted to make it very romantic and special because it was a very special night for them so this Prima paper was perfect! I loved seeing them all dressed up!! I feel like I've been missing out for so long on this site and can hardly wait until the next sketch!!

I also played along with The Color Room and here was the color palette and sketch:

and here was my take on it:

I had this picture of my high school friend Lynn and I and wanted to scrap our special relationship. We go waaaaayy back and have remained friends since Grade 9. Alhtough we don't see each other half as much as we should when we do get together it's like no time has passed. How about you, do you have a special friend like that? Also, are there any other sketch blogs I should know about??

ATC's and art journals

As you know I love making ATC's and art journal pages! I really love playing along with the challenge blogs and the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal prompt was "moment" this time and I had this picture of myself that just fit this quote:

I just love that blue. I haven't used alot of that electric blue color but I'm really glad I did. That's the fun of art journaling, you can experiment with color!

I also played along with the Think Monday Think ATC and the theme was "famous people". Can you guess who I did it on? Johhnnnnnyyyy Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls of course!! haha Their new song is called "Home" so I put the lyrics on it. Sigh.

Well kiddos that's all I have today. I'm really looking forward to my 3 day weekend and I'm hoping to make some art. I still haven't had enough time to learn my watercolor or drawing after buying those books. There is never enough time when you work full time. Sigh.

I love having Mondays off!!

It's Labor Day where I live and how awesome is it to have Monday off when most people are going to work? Love it!! John and I went out for breakfast this morning and then did a couple errands. Now I feel lazy as it's an overcast day here.

I played along with the
Simply Artistic challenge blog as they had the 3rd Alice challenge and this is my ATC I made

I've been really enjoying these challenges even though I'm not a big Alice in Wonderland fan (I know, don't throw rotten tomatoes at me!) haha

I'm hooked on The Color Room challenges and here is the palette and sketch

and here is my take on it

Once again, I wouldn't have put these colors together maybe or done the sketch. I'm hooked.

I received an email from Laurie letting me know that I am featured on the
Cook, Scrap, Craft blog this week and I feel almost famous!! Thanks Laurie!!

Here is a layout I did on John's dad and Keegan and I loved these pictures of them so much that I wanted the layout to be very pretty. The chipboard bird is by Magistical Memories.

I watched the newest True Blood today and it was awesome!!!! Can't wait until next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the long weekend!!

yay!! I have a 3 day weekend how glorious is that??? The new Gutter Girlz prompt is now up so go and check it out and play along with us!! Here is my take on it:

I also finished my ATC's for the "Work of art/next great artist" swap over at ATC's for all and love how they turned out. Here is "life is good"

"enjoy the journey"

and "A kiss"

I'm also done my mermaid swap cards (I looovveeee mermaids!!!) and here they are starting with "Blonde mermaid"

and "She pined"

and "The call of the sirens"

and then I was experimenting with a black checkered background and decided to keep this one for myself

because I just wasn't sure if it was better before without the black checks. What do you think? Also, if any of you do ATC's I always make extras to trade so check out my Flickr gallery (see sidebar) of ATC's for trade. I love arty ATC's and prefer to trade "like for like". Not to sound like a total ATC snob but I prefer ATC's with some time and effort put into them, not just a sticker or picture glued to the paper. Anyone that puts alot of effort into their cards knows what I mean. Ok, I know I sound horrible but it's post traumatic stress from being in so many blind swaps and getting very simple cards in return for cards that took me alot of time to make!! Sorry man!

Tonight J and I watched

and it was cute. I gave it a 7 out of 10. There were a few really funny parts such as the "oyster in my pants". Hah!! We also ate take out food and since he was on a bender last night with the cronies he retired early and now I am in my art room making art. How about you, what are you up to this long weekend?
