Goo Goo Dolls Live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dream finally came true, I saw the Goo Goo Dolls live at the Casino Regina on Friday, February 25th, 2011!!! It was everything I had imagined it to be!! They had an amazing play list of songs and gave an awesome performance. Of course all John Rzeznik has to do is just stand there and look gorgeous and sing with his beautiful voice and I'm in heaven. Sigh. I went with my best friend and we booked into our hotel, went shopping for a bit, had supper and then hit the Casino for the concert. I bought this concert shirt before the concert and was super pumped as it was a gorgeous shirt and it had the cities and concert dates on the back:

Here are some pics from the concert that I took:

I also took this video with my camera, the sound isn't the best but I'm impressed with the video!! I love this song!!!

Be still my beating heart. I have another video I'll post later as I'm still uploading it to youtube. I'm still pinching myself today and am on cloud 9. I have wanted to see these guys live for years!!!

After the concert Gay and I played slots for a bit in the Casino, came out ahead and left to go back to the hotel. We crashed and then the next day got up early for some major shopping!!! I hit up Michael's and they had all storage things on sale 40% off so I splurged and got 2, which I need to get set up and will then post pics!

I had the best weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goo Goo Dolls forever!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vacay pics

I showed such self restraint this trip that I deserve an award! haha I didn't buy any purses or baubles nor did I buy any patterned paper!!! I know right?? What I did buy though that I just love is this new leopard print furry for our bed:

Skyler looks so comfy in the nest doesn't he? I also bought this massage chair which is totally amazing!!!! I love it!!

The chair was regular $169 on sale for $49 but when she rang it through the till it gave us an ADDITIONAL 75% off, leaving the grand total of $13.11. I almost had a seizure!!!! I put this and the leopard print furry into my suitcase and was thankful it fit so I could bring it back!! Decadent.

Here are some scrappy goodies I got

I had been wanting these stencils for a while and also bought one of the new Glimmer Mists, where it's supposed to be new and improved so it doesn't clog the sprayers, like most of my other ones did. I will say though that Tattered Angels had good customer service and when I informed them that 8-10 of mine were clogged, some I hadn't even used yet, they sent me some free replacement sprayers. That was awesome and showed very good customer service!! Here are more goodies

The Thickers I found at one of the tills at a Winners store and they were $1.99 to $2.49! Awesome! The little American Crafts sticker booklets were only $1.99 too! I love good deals.

And all the rhinestone titles I found at Michael's on clearance for 79 cents!! I also got some new stamps... oh, and here is a close up of the new Glimmer Mist colors I got, I need to add them to my swatch when I get time.

Went into this cool store in Calgary at the Chinook Mall called "Detox", very cool store. I bought a leopard print cardigan for work here.

Me doing my photo op with stuffed moose in a shop in Banff

and my animal sighting. Pa said they were moose but I don't know about that....what do you think?

I had a great time but it's nice to be back home. Also, Friday night is my big Goo Goo Dolls concert so I am counting the sleeps. Only 2 more sleeps!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm baaaack!

I got back from my vacay yesterday and am feeling very much relaxed and recharged. I love spending the time with my ma and pa and always look forward to my February trip to see them!!

While I was away the new
A Year in the Life of an Art Journal prompt was posted on the 15th and this is it:

THE PROMPT: Fight
THE SONG: Breakin' Dishes by Rihanna
Written Lyrics HERE
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Bleach

I don't own any bleach (I know, horrors right??) and couldn't find much inspiration in the song so I chose to be inspired by the word "fight". Here is my take on the prompt which is a new page for my art journal:

I love how this turned out and instead of putting real songs on the spray painted cassette (I have a cool stencil book for this!) I chose to put pretend songs that reflect my attitude on life.

I am also behind on posting my projects using the Scrapbook Star February kit which was super fun and whimsical! I love the new October Afternoon goodies!!

and

and of course a couple ATC's

and

What a fun kit right??

I don't have any pictures from my trip ready to upload yet so I will just give you a couple book reviews as I read a couple books while I was away! The first one was "Slave Hunter"

and here is the review from Amazon.ca (but I read mine on my Sony Reader)

From living the rock star life to wading through the world's war zones, refugee camps, and brothels, Aaron Cohen left behind his closest friends, his dying father, and his partnership with a legendary musician to take on treacherous rescue missions in search of modern-day slaves

Years of drug addiction and late-night partying led Aaron Cohen, one-time best friend and business partner to Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, on a path of spiritual discovery that has both transformed and endangered his life -- a path that has drawn him into the shantytowns of Cambodia and the hidden brothels of Latin America, across the sweltering savannahs of Sudan, up to the Dalai Lama's Himalayan retreat, and through the unforgiving jungles of Burma and the deserts of Iraq. At a time when more people than ever before are enslaved somewhere on the planet, Aaron Cohen is a slave hunter -- working to find and free human beings from various forms of bondage.

The flesh trade is the world's fastest-growing and most deadly illegal enterprise -- even more profitable and easier to hide than guns, drugs, and precious gems. Free from diplomatic restrictions and political agendas, Cohen is a unique asset to government agencies, think tanks, and anti-slavery organizations. He navigates the oppressive territory of pimps and drug lords, cloaked in the all-too-familiar world of substance abuse, oversized egos, and changing rules. Working alone and posing as a sex tourist, he slips into brothels, urged by madams to select from a lineup of women and girls as young as six. Sometimes he can save them from their captors, but more often than not, he must leave them behind, taking only the evidence he hopes will eventually lead to their rescue.

Struggling to make ends meet on his own negligible salary, Cohen faces temptations few could resist and witnesses atrocities his friends and family cannot understand. And though many assignments over the years carry him away from his ailing father, his commitment to protect, assist, and empower human trafficking victims -- and to disrupt the patterns that lead to all forms of enslavement -- is unyielding.

In a remarkable exposé of a sinister trade most of us will never experience first-hand, rocker-turned-antislavery activist Aaron Cohen reveals the fast-paced, timely, inspiring, and unforgettable story of a real life Slave Hunter.

I enjoyed this book but it is so sad that in today's world sex trafficking is at an all time high. Can you believe that we have more slaves today than at any other time in history?? I was surprised and shocked to have read that statistic.

The other book I read on my Sony Reader was "Joyride"

and can I just say "holy shit"??? Wow. This guy gives Stephen King a run for his money. The book was not for the faint of heart but I really enjoyed it (but I'm warped that way!) haha

Here is the review from Amazon.ca:

Sex, murder and mayhem are stock in trade for the vastly popular Ketchum (The Girl Next Door), and so are odd coincidences, which abound in this gory reissue. Wayne, a bartender and would-be killer who always chickens out at the last minute, nearly chokes his girl-friend to death while on a hike. After she runs off, he happens to see a couple committing a brutal murder and recognizes one of them as a regular at his bar. The dead man, Howard-done in by his ex-wife, Carole, and her new lover, Lee-is found in a stream by a Boy Scout who is dispassionately curious about the stinking corpse. The pathways coalesce when Wayne forces Lee and Carole into a meaningless drive inevitably complete with senseless murder. These are the actors that make Ketchum's melodrama compelling, nasty but peculiarly irresistible.

I bought another Jack Ketchum book and will let you know how it is when I get around to it! Well that's it kids. I have to clean the house and get organized after being away and then I hope to have some art time this week. I'll also upload some pics from my trip as well as some of the goodies I brought back with me. Have a great day!!

1 more sleep!!!

And then I'll be flying away to Calgary to visit my ma and pa! I can hardly wait!! Every February I run away from home and have "me" time. It's awesome. Shopping, sleeping in with no snoring beside me, iced caps, good food, laughter and seeing the rest of the family. When I come back I feel refreshed like my batteries have been recharged. I recommend this to everyone.

I finally scrapped Paige's school pictures from the fall using the fabulous Pink Paislee goodies I won from the contest over at 2 Peas:

On my Sony Reader I'm currently reading "I'm with the band" by Pamela Des Barres and it sucks, big time. What a waste of money and a download. It sounds like it was written by a 14 year old girl the whole way through, like she never grew up. Plus it's boring. And who would have thought it would be boring if it was about the life of a rock and roll groupie right?? I'm still struggling to finish the last 100 pages or so.

Here is a review from Amazon:

The stylish, exuberant, and remarkably sweet confession of one of the most famous groupies of the 1960s and 70s is back in print in this new edition that includes an afterword on the author's last 15 years of adventures. As soon as she graduated from high school, Pamela Des Barres headed for the Sunset Strip, where she knocked on rock stars' backstage doors and immersed herself in the drugs, danger, and ecstasy of the freewheeling 1960s. Over the next 10 years she had affairs with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Waylon Jennings, Chris Hillman, Noel Redding, and Jim Morrison, among others. She traveled with Led Zeppelin; lived in sin with Don Johnson; turned down a date with Elvis Presley; and was close friends with Robert Plant, Gram Parsons, Ray Davies, and Frank Zappa. As a member of the GTO's, a girl group masterminded by Frank Zappa, she was in the thick of the most revolutionary renaissance in the history of modern popular music. Warm, witty, and sexy, this kiss-and-tell–all stands out as the perfect chronicle of one of rock 'n' roll's most thrilling eras.

Let me just say they lied. This book sucked. Other than that, it will be pretty quiet on here until I return, hopefully with some fabulous things to post so I'll see you on the 20th!

Tampon rant!!!!!!!

Yes, you heard me. Come on, we use them, it's a fact of life. But what's really a pisser is when the tampon you have grown to know and love, since you first got your damn period as a young girl, has been discontinued. Yes, that's right, DISCONTINUED. Can you imagine?? I'm livid. This is my fave tampon

and you can read about the discontinuation Here. I'm just pissed right off and if you google this you will find that boxes have been spotted on Ebay going for over $130!!! Now that's where I draw the line so I mustered up my outrage and signed the Petition to bring back the OB Ultra tampons and will have to keep my fingers crossed. Hell hath no fury like a menstruating woman with inadequate feminine products. Snap. Bastards. You just don't mess with a woman's monthly. I shaka my fist!!!

Here is a journal page I made just because and I busted out my black can of spray paint and my book of stencils to make this:

and then I FINALLY scrapped my Thanksgiving pictures from October!! Finally!!

I am so happy the weekend is here. Got any plans?
