I saw the Hunger Games!!!

Last night Paige and I and her friend Melissa went to the show and saw "The Hunger Games"!!! It was AWESOME!! I have read all 3 books and really wanted to see the show and the show did not disappoint, let me tell you!!

I love seeing a movie after I have read the book and I was really pleased with how it turned out. Have you seen it? I had shivers through various scenes in the movie, it was incredible.

Ok, it's that time again, time for the new prompt at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and today's prompt is brought to you by Margrethe and here it is:

THE PROMPT: Everyday
THE STUFF: Receipts, newspaper headlines, clothing tags, photos of your day
THE TEChNIQUE: Journaling

and here is my take on this

I love the everyday stuff! Since I'm also a scrapper I've always loved scrapping the everyday and this has followed me into my art journals. I used pictures of things I see or do everyday and just looking at this collage of "my everyday life" makes me smile. Ok, maybe not the laundry or dishes part....but totally the reading, snacking and making art part!! haha

I actually scrapped our move from LAST summer into the rental. Wow, at this rate I should be scrapping our next move from this May in another 2 years! I can't wait to get caught up!!!!

Last week John and I went to look at lighting for the house and there is soooo much to choose from!!! We ended up getting a gorgeous wooden fan for the livingroom and the 3 hanging lights for above the island but still have lots to pick out yet!

had a great visit with the grandkids last weekend, here is Paige and Caitlyn

and Keegan

and the house is coming along, here is Michael

and John

and the progress

I believe the mudding and taping will commence this weekend, yay!!!

Concert news: I got my ticket to go and see John Cougar Mellencamp in June!! woohoo!

I can't wait! I grew up with his songs all throughout the 80's!! Long live the 80's!!

Found out the lino we picked has been discontinued and I have to go today after work and try to find some other stuff I like. How shitty is that?? I had my heart set on that particular one. But it's Friday so I'll pull through!!!

A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

The new prompt is up over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and here it is brought to you by Rachel:

THE PROMPT: These are a Few of My Favorite Things
THE STUFF: List of your favorite things. ie: fave color, book, coffee creamer, drink, season, flowers... etc.
THE TECHNIQUE: Brown paper ie: "brown paper packages tied up with string" and labels from some of your favorite things

I loved making this page of my favorites and although I didn't use brown paper I did use the brown kraft that my journal pages are made of as my background and then used lots of paints and glimmer mists.

I also finished up my layout that was for a challenge where you had to use the title "time flies" as well as a clock face. I found some pictures that were taken at various points in time and made this (talk about a blast from the past!! haha). Check out the portrait pic of me and the hubs and our rockin 80's hair!

I just love the Pink Paislee mistables paper!!!

We had our sweet peas over on the weekend and had a great visit. Keegan has his cast off and is growing up so fast!

and here we are

and Caitlyn is now pulling herself up and standing and loves her little ride on toy

and here we are

The house is slowly coming along. The ceilings are now textured

and now John is working on the basement getting it ready to be drywalled

I can't wait until the cabinets and flooring go in!!!!!!!!!

I woke up with a sore throat this morning so I'm hoping to sleep in this weekend and even play in my art room. I'm hoping I can nip it in the bud with my sinus rinse, wish me luck!!

Mid week rah rah

I scrapped on the weekend, stop the presses!! haha I actually made 3 layouts (well one is still in progress, sitting on my art desk as I'm not sure if it's done or not) and it felt good! I had a bunch of pictures of my parents so I did a layout on each of them:

I'm not 100% sure about the peach flowers on Pa's layout but oh well, they are glued down and that's that.

I added 2 new Sid Dickens memory tiles to my growing collection!!!! I got "Grace" (isn't she beautiful?)

and "Divine Mercy"

Just looking at these two make me feel peaceful. Here is what my virtual wall looks like now

The first coat of paint is done at the house but I'm not 100% sure about it. It was called "Rye" but in some areas where the natural light really comes in it looks pinky!!!! Here's a pic where it looks tan

and here's one in the kitchen where it looks pinky!!!

yet here's the other side of the kitchen

Strange right? It's like some kind of freaky deaky hypercolor paint! haha We are going to wait until the flooring and cabinets are in and see what it looks like and we can always change the 2nd coat. I know my iphone doesn't take great indoor pictures either and that doesn't help!!

Happy hump day!

Vacay update aka longest post in history

Thank God I had this week off after coming back from my vacation because I've done nothing but run around and do errands, housework & laundry (landlord wanted to show the house to realtors, uuggh), bring home and then return carpet and lino samples (ok so that was fun!!) and lots of other stuff. It's Friday and I have yet to play in my art room. I am now officially all done my chores and errands and finally have some time to share some of the goodies I bought on my holiday to Calgary. In no particular order here they are:

Gorgeous leopard print Coach kicks, swoon....

funky Jesus t-shirt that I found in Urban Outfitters and I just had to have it, it makes me smile

and if you know me you know how I love me my baubles....

and since I love baubles I found these 2 gorgeous rings, the first one is smoky quartz and the second one is garnet

and of course I got some artsy things but I did hold back and didn't buy even 1 piece of paper, I was so proud of myself!!!

and some stamps

here is my Ma and Pa

and here is me shopping up a storm (Winners is my favorite store, I always say there's always a winner at Winners!!!!)

This week I was super pumped when I went to Superstore and found they were carrying my favorite mangos ever!!!!!!!!

If you ever get the chance you have to try these, they are amazing!!! Here is my Photo 365 for February, all filled in:

Oh, and here is my amazing Banksy style canvas that I got from Photo Canvas, isn't it gorgeous??? I emailed them a picture that I wanted to use and they converted it to "Banksy style" art and put it on a canvas. It's a 16 x 20 and I cannot wait to get into the new house to hang it!!!

Here is the original picture

How cool is that??? I just love it.

I finally got my copies and layouts back from Scrapbook Trends and was thrilled to be in the November issue

and here was my layout for the Thanksgiving section

and I was also in the December issue

and here was my layout for the Sparkle and Shine section (this has always been one of my favorite layouts)

I would love to show you my September layout but it's missing right now!! I am like freaking out because I have never had a layout go missing from being published and I'm afraid this might be my first time. They are trying to look for it and I'm going to touch base with them again next week to see if they have had any luck. I'm so worried.....

The house is now done being mudded and taped and should be primed and painted starting Monday or Tuesday. I can't wait!!!

Things that make me happy lately:

- my ipad
- Cougar Town is back!!!
- Spartacus is back!!!
- Vampire Diaries
- Cozy flannel sheets
- my Sony Reader
- seeing the house progressing

Ok, how's that for the longest post ever???? I hope the next time I post that I will be sharing some scrappy goodness..or at least some ATC's.
