A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

Hi there, the new prompt for the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal is this:

THE PROMPT: Looking Forward
THE STUFF: I'm not usually one for "new year's resolutions" so I'd like to take a different spin on the time worn tradition. What are you looking forward to this coming year? Is it simply the idea of a fresh start? The hope that this year will be kinder? Do you have something new and exciting coming up?
THE TECHNIQUE: Use a calendar grid or date stamp on your page.

I used to make New Year's Resolutions but then I found I could never keep them. Or if I did it was only for a day or so! haha So what I did my page on was how I am looking forward to happiness this year. I think that happiness is one of the most important things, aside from health, and if you are happy then life is good!!

Done scrapping grad!

I did it! I am finished scrapping Paige's grad. I feel like I've scrapped more this month than I have all year! haha Here are the last 2 grad layouts

I loved how the one above turned out. I had the Prima graffiti paper sitting around forever and finally had a chance to use it and was so happy with it!!

Yesterday made my shortbread cookies so Christmas can now come!
and I love this Christmas arrangment I got from Safeway, just makes the kitchen so Christmasy!!
The hubs and I are now on season 5 of Sons of Anarchy!!!! OMG!!!! Could not believe the episode we just saw last night, one of my favorite characters killed. So sad. We have been watching this for so long now that I said to John I feel like someone I knew died!! haha Talk about getting totally sucked into a show eh??
Hey, we are looking for guest hosts over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal!! Do you love to journal? Would you love to join us?? Then come on over and check it out. It's going to be a great year!!!

Well, the grandkids are coming over today and I can't wait to see them and give them their presents!! They will be away for Christmas so we are doing Christmas for them today. They will be sooo excited!!

A little Christmas humour

Hi there it's time for a little Christmas humour using the fabulous Viva Las VegaStamps!. If you know me then you know that I love getting a little naughty with the stamps which is why the Naughty Lady stamp was perfect for this humorous ATC.
I stamped the naughty lady stamp onto white cardstock and then colored her in with watercolor pencils and cut her out, placed her onto various layered patterned papers and made this ATC

Supplies:

Naughty Lady stamp
Miracle tape
Various patterned papers
Staedtler watercolor pencils

The Naughty Lady stamp is one of my all time favorites and here are a couple other projects I've made using her. This is another ATC
and this was a journal page

I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I've used the Naughty Lady and until next time,

Getting my scrap on!

Last weekend was a scrappy kind of a weekend, which was a nice change! I managed to do a few layouts and am working on another one! Here are a couple

It felt good to get my scrap on and some of my supplies were like new again as they had been long buried. I haven't been buying scrap supplies for a while now as I have so much so it's nice when I can start using up stuff that has been around for years collecting dust! haha

Here is a pic of the boys, and Sammy is wearing his little Santa coat, how stinkin cute is that????
Have a great week!

A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

Hi there,  today's prompt over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal is this:

THE PROMPT: Looking Forward
THE STUFF: I'm not usually one for "new year's resolutions" so I'd like to take a different spin on the time worn tradition. What are you looking forward to this coming year? Is it simply the idea of a fresh start? The hope that this year will be kinder? Do you have something new and exciting coming up?
THE TECHNIQUE: Use a calendar grid or date stamp on your page.   When I thought of traditions at Christmas the first one I thought of was Christmas stockings! Ever since I was a little girl we always looked forward to opening our stocking and finding all kinds of treasures and trinkets. I continued this tradition with my own kids and even at 18 and 22 still have a Christmas stocking for them! This was a great page for me to document and I loved using the Viva Las VegaStamps Chevron stamp

to make this art journal page for the above prompt:

Chevrons are so huge right now that I love how it modernizes the old fashioned look of this page.

I know I will be using this stamp alot and would love to have any of you art journalers play along with us over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal!

Hi there, today I would like to share some mermaid magic! I love mermaids so when I saw this gorgeous creature, the 2 x 3 Viva Las VegaStamps Mermaid, I knew I had to make something special.

I started out by using 4 different alcohol inks in various blues and putting them onto the Kromecote glossy cardstock.

When I was satisfied with how the alcohol inks looked I then took some Mermaid Glimmer Glam and painted it over the alcohol inks.

The next step was to stamp the mermaid stamp onto some white cardstock.

I then used watercolor pencils to color her in and then cut her out carefully

The next step was to take some gold glitter and put some on some white paper. I then put glue onto the kromecote cardstock where I wanted the glitter to be and pressed it into the glitter

so that it looked something like this

I then glued some rhinestones and pearls into the glitter, printed off a quote on my printer and glued that on, stapled some lace pom pom trim on and voila, here is the magical mermaid

Supplies:

Plate 1349 or
2 x 3 Mermaid Stamp
Kromecote cardstock
Miracle tape
May Arts trim
Black cardstock
Gold glitter
Alcohol inks
Glimmer Glaze
Versafine ink
Staedtler watercolor pencils
Rhinestones & pearls
Glue

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on mermaid magic and until next time,
