Somerset Apprentice!!

I was super pumped to have had one of my canvases published in the Somerset Apprentice Autumn 2013 issue.
I am on pages 132-136!!! yay!! The colors aren't the best in this image as it's from my scanner
this is what the canvas actually looks like from a photograph.
I have been pubbed in the Somerset Memories alot but this was my first time with Somerset Apprentice and I was tickled pink!! Here is a view of my art room wall with all my canvases on it
I have the need to make a new canvas all of a sudden!! haha I have been lucky enough to have had 2 canvases published now.  Before I go here is a picture of Henry
I put peanuts out for him every morning in the tree in our front yard (ok sometimes I forget...) and love seeing him come and get them.

A year in the life of an art journal

Hi there! The new prompt is up over at the A year in the life of an art journal and here it is:

PROMPT: Artsy Fartsy
SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with your paint brushes, or favorite art supply
BOOKERS: Mugs just might be one of the easiest things to draw...take a shot and try it out!

This was a big challenge for me as I'm not good at drawing!! haha I decided to attempt to draw a picture of the coffee mug I drink out of every morning and I am less than thrilled with how this turned out but hey, that's ok! Here is my coffee mug
and here is my sad attempt at drawing the said coffee mug
Um yeah. As you can see I ran out of room towards the bottom of the cup! haha I think I may have bit off more than I could chew by trying to replicate my mug but it makes me smile to look at this.

I'm a Pinterest addict!!

Ok I admit it, I loooveee Pinterest!! I have lost numerous hours of my life pouring over pinterest porn (not real porn, you Pinterest people know what I'm talking about!) and have so many boards of recipes, art stuff, home decor, fashion, etc.. I just love it!!! So when I saw Viva Las VegaStamps! had a Pinterest stamp I just had to get it and play with it!!

I made 3 ATC's about Pinterest and here they are:

And if you are a Pinterest addict like me you will know that they are all true!!! haha

Here are the stamps I used to make these ATC's:

 Lady with scissors:
 Lady with washing machine:
 Cake lady:
When I'm done making my ATC's I like to display them in my art room instead of putting them into my binder right away. Here is my 7 Gypsies ATC holder

and here it is close up
I love seeing all my colorful treasures on display!! I hope you enjoyed my project and have a fabulous day!

Happy Anniversary Baby!!

Today was our 25th wedding anniversary!! A whole 1/4 of a century!! John got me some pretty flowers and then we went out for supper at a new restaurant in town called "Rock Creek Tap and Grill". The meal was really good up until I found a black bug in my mashed potatoes. Yep. Story of my life. So now I have had a hair in my caesar salad from a different restaurant in town, a pube in a plate of pasta when I went to visit my parents and we had supper at the Old Spagetti Factory and now a black bug. What's next a scab??? Good grief. But aside from that it was a nice evening and here are some pics from the night

Here's to another 25 years with such a hard working, kind, loving and generous man!!

In scrappy news I did a new layout
That's all folks!

Never enough time

This past year I have been feeling that there is never enough time to just do the things I want to do without housework, meal planning, bill paying, etc.. taking over. I don't know if it's because I have less energy than I used to or if time has actually sped up therefore leaving us less of it??? haha But I did manage to scrap 2 measly layouts. If I look back on what I used to scrap and what I scrap now there has been a drastic reduction. I know I read alot more now and I think I also lose hours of my life on Pinterest and surfing the net. ugghh. Anyhoo, here are a couple layouts

As you can see I was kind of digging the black background! I'm in my art room trying to scrap one more layout before I tear myself away and have to do the floors and kitchen. uugghh. Here's a pic from last night as we had beers in the backyard
 and Skyler
and some kick ass bracelets my bestie got me for my birthday! Looooveee these!!!
Happy Sunday everyone!

Viva Las VegaStamps & Scorpal!

We were lucky enough to have been given a Scorpal by Scorpal and since this was my first time using the Scorpal let me just say WOW!!! At first I wracked my brain trying to think of what I was going to make because I'm not a card person, but I am a total ATC addict!! So I thought why can't I make a little ATC booklet using the Scorpal, and I did!! The size of an ATC is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches and I wanted to make a triple ATC so I cut my white cardstock into the size of 2 1/2 x 7 inches. I then placed that onto the Scorpal and it was so nice because it did the measuring and folding for me!!!
I made 2 scores at the 2 1/2 inch mark and the 5 inch mark (and be careful that you don't go over them again like I did because I tore right through it and had to start again! haha) and then gently folded them like an accordian.

This is how I wanted my little mini ATC booklet to fold
After that I decorated each mini page with a variety of super fun Viva Las VegaStamps!, Sakura gelly pens, mists, paint and papers and now  have a cute little ATC mini album. If one ATC is good how awesome is having 6 connected all together??
Here is the front cover:
and here is the booklet opened up

and here is the other side

Here are the Viva Las VegaStamps! that I used to make this project:
I hope you enjoyed my project and have a great day!

A year in the life of an art journal

New post is up over at the A year in the life of an art journal and here it is!

PROMPT: If I could take it back... Regrets. Everyone has them. What is yours? Do you have more than one?
SHOOTERS: Shoot your least favorite mug.
BOOKERS: Let's use light moulding paste for added texture. If you don't have any you can use lots of gesso or thick paint as well.

Everyone has regrets right? I know I've talked about this particular one of mine before (hey can you tell it bugs me?? haha) but I wish I would have gone on to University to study something that interested me. Something that would have challenged me and made each day interesting and each new work day filled with new stories. I would have loved to have been a border security agent!!! Yes!!!!! I am like a bloody detective and can sniff out anything that is amiss from a mile away. I know you might be saying "well can't you do it now? Just do it", and it's never that easy is it? I've been working at the same job for almost 23 years and will have a good pension, so I can't risk that to start a new venture at this stage of my life. Plus we don't have a major airport near us so it would mean a commute every day. Maybe in my next life??
I hope you enjoyed my journal page and I would love to know what is one of your regrets??
