A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

New prompt is up over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and here it is:

PROMPT: Rainy Day

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug near a rainy window

BOOKERS: drip some paints on your page, and share a little bit about what the perfect rainy day looks like to you.

I loved this prompt because I love using glimmermists to make lovely drips. I made my journal page with 2 clouds and then sprayed different shades of glimmermists to look like rain. How perfect is the Marilyn stamp with her little umbrella too (Marilyn stamp and Chevron stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps!) for this scene? I said how I think it's cozy to be inside on a rainy day.

Come on over and play along with us!

Viva Las VegaStamps Blog Hop!!

The time has come for the Viva Las VegaStamps! Blast from the Past blog hop!!

Why should only new stamps get the love right? Let's take some time to appreciate and show some love for some of the older stamps that have maybe been forgotten! I used the "Demure Lady" stamp, which is an older retired stamp,  and had alot of fun making this ATC:

Isn't she great??

A new "A Year in the Life of an Art Journal" year!!!

How exciting, today is the first new prompt for our new way of doing things over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and this time there is something for everyone!! Check it out:

PROMPT: New Year's resolutions or ONE WORD. Do you make New Year's resolutions, or take part in the ONE WORD project?

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with your word or something that symbolizes your word. Some ideas would be to take a picture of your mug on top of a page with your word on it, or a trinket that reminds you of that word, or your mug in a setting that reminds you of your word. If your word was say, TRANQUILITY, you might take a picture of a mug in a window looking out into a garden)

Shooters, you can share your shots from this prompt on Monday Mugshots facebook page on the 21st of this month!

BOOKERS: Use watercolors on your page to emulate your word... (if you don't have water colors, watered down acrylic paint will do just fine.) use color to convey that word and what it means to you. While your paint is WET, sprinkle salt on it, and let it sit. When your paint is dry, brush off the salt. (people taking part in the creative prompt can put their mugshot for this prompt on this page.)

Now I'm a booker (which isn't to say I may not be a shooter also at some point, cause I can do that you know...) and this is my art journal page:

I knew what my word was going to be immediately as it's something I sorely lack and am always trying to improve upon. Patience. I envy people who have the patience of a saint, or even just have patience to begin with!! haha I am very high strung and find this patience thing very elusive but I refuse to give up. I keep trying to be a better person and become more patient. As for technique, not sure what I did. I used paint and glimmer mists so I'll go with that! haha I used this gorgeous soft yellow paper that had felt flocked leaves to give the feeling of serenity, which is turn makes me think of patience.

So, I hope to see you come on over and check out what the rest of the team and guest hosts have come up with. It will also explain a little more about this new year and how the prompts work! I'm super pumped and can't wait until the next one!!!!

Got my Sid Dickens up!!

Ok, so you know that I have been collecting the Sid Dickens tiles for over a year now and was waiting until we moved into the new house to display them right? Well the hubs made some gorgeous maple built-ins that I now have my Sids displayed in!!! I'm so excited because I have been wanting to display them and look at them for so long now!! The only problem is that I want to get more and the cabinets are filled already! haha

and

and the both of them together (please excuse the red garland as it was decorated all up for Christmas!) haha

I just love them!!! I'm thinking if I get more I can do a rotation of them just to switch things up.

In scrappy news I did this layout that I love

Have a great day!

I'm now a partner in crime!!

I'm super pumped to say that this year over at the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal that I am officially Rachel's "partner in crime"! woot! Love it! We have a super creative year ahead with something very different this time. For people who either don't have the time to art journal, or just don't journal, they can still participate in the prompts by being "shooters", which means they can take a picture based on the prompt. And for those of us that art journal, like moi, we are the "bookers", so we make an art journal page based on the prompt. Are you in?? Are ya???

If you would like to know more on how this is going to work please go here where Rachel has posted a detailed outline, as well as some examples. I am really looking forward to this year and am super pumped to see what everyone's take is on the prompts. I hope to see you join us!!

Streetheart Concert!

The hubs and I went to see Streetheart in concert and man was that a blast from the past!!! One of my all time favorite songs of theirs is called "Action":

Looveee that song! And Kenny Shields still has a great voice. Here are some pics from our concert night

This was me and the hubs just before going into the casino and this is us in the casino

Late Christmas post & scrappy stuff

Ok, I have been so busy that I realized I never even did a Christmas post!! I had a wonderful Christmas and we hosted the Christmas supper again and it was so nice having everyone get together. Rather than post a zillion pics here is a small collage of Christmas!
I enjoyed my time off and loved just hanging out and doing nothing. But now it's back to the grind for me!

Here is a layout I did of the Honeymoon Suite concert I went to in July with my bestie

It was so fun to see them and remember all the songs I used to love when I was young! My favorite song they sang was "New girl now". Here's their video from way back and I'm sure you'll remember it!

Remember that? Yep, those were the good old days! haha

Hope you are having a great Sunday!

I wear my sunglasses at night...

Do you have the Cory Hart song running through your head now? haha The funny thing about the stamp I'm about to show you is that I didn't realize that she was wearing a garbage can lid as a hat, at first glance I thought it was actually a hat (but we won't tell my daughter about that)! haha I used the Viva Las VegaStamps Lid Lady stamp

My daughter loves to wear her sunglasses, like all the time, so I thought this stamp was fitting for the pictures I took of her opening her grad presents. Wearing her sunglasses. haha!

and here is a close up of the lid lady stamp
Supplies used:

Scrapbook papers
Staedtler watercolor pencils
Versafine ink
Plastic letters
Letter stickers

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I used the lid lady and until next time,
