A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

It's that time again! Time for the February 30th (but this month it's actually the 28th! haha)  prompt from the A Year in the Life of an Art Journal!! Here is the new prompt:

PROMPT: Drink of choice

SHOOTERS: Take a photo of your drink of choice. Tea, Beer, Coffee, Lemonaide... what's in your mug most days?

BOOKERS: Create a page using some of the packaging of your favorite brand. Use lots of packaging in strips on a page.
Use your product's branding to influence your colors and layout.

I love working with packaging and I am always snipping and keeping various tags that I find from new clothing, etc.. In this journal page I had some clothing tags from Billabong and used 3 of them to make this page.

Come on over and play with us as I'd love to see your take on the prompt!!

You're the cream in my coffee!

I must have love on the brain due to February being the month for Valentine's Day and and all because I made a 2nd lovey dovey project celebrating the hubs and I's 24th wedding anniversary.  I used 3 different stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps! to make a mixed media layout.

I used the Six Hexagon Background stamp

and the man and woman symbol stamp

these two can also be found here on Plate 917

and last but not least the Romantic Encounter stamp

I got messy with my paints and created a mixed media layout celebrating our 24th anniversary.

I hope you enjoyed my layout and have a great day!!

A Year in the Life of an Art Journal

New prompt is up over at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal and here it is:

PROMPT: Favorite Quote

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with your favorite quote.

BOOKERS: Find a quote you love and journal it. Print your mugshot onto a book page or dictionary page.

I looovveee quotes and had a hard time only picking one. I chose the quote "How others see you is not important. How you see yourself means everything". I think that is a lovely quote and more people should live by it. I glued a couple pages of dictionary pages onto my page and then layered everything around it. All of the stamps I used are from Viva Las VegaStamps! as well as I used alot of paint and rub ons.

Come on and play along with us!

Scrappy Sunday

Well technically I made these layouts yesterday and last week but since I'm sharing them today I'm calling it "scrappy Sunday"! haha I had a bunch of pictures of the grandkids that I needed to scrap and I love how this layout turned out
and on this layout I got 7 pictures on it!
I had this Prima paintable paper kicking around for so long and wanted to use it. The vision I had in my head was of course different than what this turned out like but you can't win them all right? All in all I still like it but I did find this one a little difficult to do.

Now for the 2 concert layouts I did! I was lucky enough to get to see Faber Drive and Simple Plan in concert this past summer with my bestie! Here is the Faber Drive layout
and here is the Simple Plan layout
We had a great time and have now got our tickets to see Marianas Trench (this will be my 2nd time seeing these guys, I love them!!!) as they are coming to where I live!!!! Super pumped!!

Happy Sunday!

Love is in the air!!

Since February is the month for lovers with Valentine's Day and all I decided to make a canvas for my art room showcasing our wedding day! I had alot of fun making this and took a few pictures outlining the process but got a little too into it and forgot to take more along the way! Here's a few pictures of the start of the canvas:

1. I took a 12 x 12 blank canvas and Gesso'd it and then layered some of the items onto it that I wanted to use just to play around with the placement of things before I permanently adhered them.

2. I glued a wedding picture of us on and as well as various papers. The pink floral lace paper was originally white but I used pink glimmer mist on it.

3. I didn't care for the yellow stenciled numbers so I painted them white and then glued them onto the canvas. I also used Light Molding Paste for added texture.

4.  As you can see things were starting to come together and I added the fabulous Kissing Couple stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps!
as well as the 6 Hexagon background stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps!

and the Writing Arrow stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps!

and then I must have gotten totally sucked into making this because the next picture I have is the finished canvas!
and here is a close up of the fabulous stamp

Supplies used:
