Birthday layout!

Hi there, just popping in to share a layout I did on my Grama's 91st birthday.  I used a regular scrap page for the left side and a pocket page for the right.
I love how many photos I was able to use as this was a special family gathering and I also love how festive this spread is.

Here is the left side
 and the right side
I am still loving this style of scrapping but now when I look around my art room I feel bad about all of the 12 x 12 papers I just "had to have" as well as so many scrap supplies.  Heavy sigh.  I'm hoping once we move and I get my new art room all organized that I can buckle down and make a bunch of my own cards with the papers I already have.

You and Me

Hi everyone, today I would like to share a scrapbook layout using 5 Viva Las VegaStamps! !  I know I said I was doing project life my way but I also did a regular layout. Yeah I'm a rebel like that! haha  I had a bunch of pics of the hubs and I and decided to do a layout on us and how many years we have been together. I had a lot of fun making this layout using some pictures that I had of the hubs and I.
What I love about stamps is that if you don't have the right embellishment you can custom make your own!  I used the Banksy painter (love this guy!!)
and the You color my world
and the Admit ticket
and last but not lease the checkerboard border
 and here is a closeup
I wanted to make it look like the banksy painter had paint dripping from his brush so I sprayed different colors of Glimmer Mists on and let them drip and then dry, and then I glued the banksy painter  onto the page.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout and until next time,

My style and project life

I had all of these pictures of different outfits that I love and I thought that this would be really neat to look back on when I'm older, so I did a 2 page spread on it and love how it turned out!
I love the color scheme I used here and I used actual story cards along with misc. papers that I had in my stash (notice the cool foil skull paper?).  Here is the left side
and the right side
I think that I will keep documenting my outfits and also want to do one on things in my house that I love too!  Thanks for stopping by again.

Black Sabbath and project life!

As promised here is a 2 page project life spread I did about the Black Sabbath concert that the hubs and I went to.  It was amazing!!! Ozzy still has an amazing voice and they put on an awesome show!! I love that I was able to fit so many pictures in this spread and the left side I used a pocket page and then I just used a regular 12 x 12 piece of cardstock (regular scrap page) because I had a 5 x 7 picture that I didn't want to cut up to fit into the pockets.
and here is the left page
and the right side
I will have to see if they have project life pages that have the option of having a 5 x 7 pocket.  Thanks for stopping by!

The new colored pencil book

Hi there, today I would like to talk about the book called The New Colored Pencil by Kristy Ann Kutch.  I love using watercolor pencils when making my ATC's, art journaling and scrapping and dream of someday being able to produce the gorgeous art that Kristy does in this book.
Kristy talks about applying and lifting colored pencils, creating and enhancing textures with colored  pencils, compatible surfaces for waxy colored pencils (I would love to try this!!), getting the most out of color, combining color drawing media and much, much more.  The art in this book is gorgeous and she has many examples on how to create the different effects that she shows.  I would have never believed what could be accomplished using pencils, it's awe inspiring!

Here is a clip of her on Youtube showing her technique of sketching pine trees

and if you go here you will see how a simple line drawing using an HB pencil becomes a  gorgeous
8 x 10 work of art!

This is one of my favorite colored pencil works of Kristy's:
Doesn't that make you want to bust out your pencils and make some art??  Kristy Kutch's book The New Colored Pencil (Watson-Guptill Publications) is available for sale through www.amazon.com, www.booksamillion.com, www.borders.com, www.wal-mart.com, Cheap Joe's Art Stuff - www.cheapjoes.com, and Dick Blick Art Materials - www.dickblick.com. The book is also available at stores such as Hobby Lobby and Michaels Arts and Crafts.

This book was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for my review and I appreciated being given the opportunity as well as this fabulous book!

Wicked Wednesday

I found a new challenge site and it's called Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge blog and the theme is "clouds/cloudy day" so I made this ATC using 3 different stamps (the clouds and the crows are from Viva Las VegaStamps!)  and a stencil from StencilGirl (I just love this punchinella stencil!!) and some glimmer mists
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my ATC!

Follow your dreams project life page

I had a bunch of pics of my daughter so I decided to do a 2 page project life spread using some premade cards as well as ones I made myself using scrapbook papers.
amd here is the left side
 and the right side
Thanks for stopping by and tomorrow I will have a concert page because you know how much I love my concerts!!

Take a word challenge

I loved making this ATC card for the Take a word challenge blog using the super cool Banksy stamp and chevron stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps!  The challenge was "silhouettes" and I love this Banksy silhouette of the little girl reaching for her balloon.  I used alot of inks, stamps and even rub ons for make this ATC:
Thanks for stopping by!

SoArtful challenge

I made this ATC for the SoArtful challenge which was "Feathers" and bright colors.  I made this using stamps by Viva Las VegaStamps!, watercolor paper and dylusions inks sprays.
This is the first time I've used the feather stamp and I love how it fits on the ATC!

Skip project life

As you may remember we had to say goodbye to our beloved Skyler in December so I wanted to do a project life page dedicated to him.  I chose soft pastels because that was Skyler's personality, he was such a sweet boy.  We were lucky to have been able to share our lives with him for 11 years and he was 16 when he got put to sleep.  I still miss him EVERY DAY.
I love all the pictures of him on this page.

March project life

Hi there, me again with another monthly page for my project life!  This time I have March
I bought a stamp that I really love and think that I will get alot of use out of and it's the one that looks like a curved bookplate that the owl is on.  I love it because I can use any color ink and then stamp it and it looks like a ready made card!  I also used some Hambly on this page as well as other knick knacks.

See you tomorrow with another project life page!

January project life page

Since I shared my plunge into doing project life with you all yesterday I will share a new page each day this week.  I will say I am loving this approach as it is soooo easy!!! There is not as much guess work involved as traditional scrapping, at least for me.  I am doing a monthly approach but am also doing events as well.  I can't commit to a weekly thing so this is working for me!

So without further adieu here is my January project life page:
I am having fun using all of my traditional scrapping supplies as well as some cards made specifically for project life.  Come back tomorrow as I'll be sharing my February page.

Thanks for stopping by!

Project life my way and Viva Las VegaStamps!

I have been thinking about starting project life for some time now but never thought I wanted to stop doing my regular scrapbooking.  What would I do with all my supplies? Would I like it? Was it creative enough? I had alot of questions and then in May I decided to bite the bullet and jump right in and give it a try.

Now I'm not talking about doing the actual "Project Life" with their supplies and everything.  I'm not even going to do mine by the week like most people are doing.  I'm doing project life my way, which I think is going to work good for me!  I may even continue scrapping regular plus do some project life pages, I'm a rebel like that.

Here is what I did:

1.  I went out and bought some pocket pages (the ones I got were by We R Memory Keepers) and I also got the We R Memory Keepers 3 x 4 paper punch so I could start using my own papers because I have a ridiculously large stash of papers, like it's obscene... and I also got a few pages by Kaiser Craft that had some awesome 3 x 4 cards on it as well as some sticker packs.  I already use 3 ring binders so I didn't have to purchase a new one.

The first thing that sucked was that the We R Memory Keepers 3 x 4 punch would not unlock.  Yep, the first step is to unlock the damn thing which it would not do. I took it back to the store the next day and the other two ladies who worked at the store could not unlock it either.  They also pulled the other 3 off the shelf and tried unlocking them and nope, it was a no go.  So I got my money back and decided from here on in, until they make an easier punch, I will just cut them myself and if I want rounded corners I have a super easy mini corner rounder.  I would love to know if anyone else has this punch and how it's working for them because I really, really wanted it to work!!

2.  I also got a plastic storage tub from Walmart so that I could fill it up with precut cards, making my life easier.  The tub I got fits the little 3 x 4 cards on the one side and the larger 4 x 6 cards on the other so I was quite happy with this!  It also came with a lid so if you are worried about dust you can seal it up.
After losing hours of my life online searching Pinterest and other sites for project life ideas and tips I was now ready to make my title page!!

The first thing I did was to place my plastic pocket page on my scrap table and stare at it.  Then I decided what I would do first is to find the cards I wanted to use and then add my pictures to it.  The next step was to place my stamps and any embellishments I wanted to use on the cards so I could see how it would look before making anything permanent.
Once I was happy with how things looked I then stamped and glued and here is my finished title page for project life my way!

Here are some closeups
I used a white sharpie to color in the hexagon squares!
I used 6 fabulous stamps for this page and they were the set of two hands pointing (I used only the one hand), the chevron banner, the six hexagon background, the row of stars, the man and woman with hearts stamp and last but not least the victorian flourish

I hope you enjoyed seeing my title page and I am really looking forward doing more of this project life style scrapping!!
